Sorry if this has already been mentioned (these pages with Twitter feeds load so slow for me that I just kind of blab without reading), but any thoughts to Leastacow's column mentioning Mad Fran comparing Garza as the up and coming Kevin McHale? Poor McHale.

Okay so I hate to bring this up again but it reminded me of my little debate on Dennis rodman not being useful in today's NBA. Kevin Mchale is another one. Good in his time. Would get absolutely slaughtered in the modern game.

What makes you think Dennis Rodman would be any less of the player Dennis Rodman was back then? 2 things that stand the test of time in basketball, hard-work/effort(which is what rebounding is all about as well) and defense.

He can't/won't shoot. You make the offensive end in to 4 v 5 if he's on the court. That doesn't work anymore in the era of offensive efficiency.

Tony Allen? Rodman get's offensive rebounds and keeps possessions alive for his team, and gets some put back buckets he is like Tristan Thompson. You put that same dennis rodman, with the same mindset, and coaches teaching the game that is played in today's NBA and I would bet alot that he'd do just fine. A DeAndre Jordan in a PF body.

I agree but can you imagine Dennis Rodman's personal life in the day of social media.

I've known a few people that went to college with, and met, Kevin McHale. More than half say that he was smoking a funny substance when they met him*. Maybe that is the comparison.

*Is 3 out of 4 a small sample size?

No I couldnt haha, but from what it sounds like, every player would have had a problem if they played in the social media age. I can tell you one thing, people would think differently of MIchael Jordan if everything he said and did off the court was tweeted and posted everywhere.

Dennis Rodman would have been just fine skill wise. Good grief...
Now his personal life alongside the internet today.... probably not.

Bless you, Fran. I needed this.

You don't think a guy who was maybe the greatest rebounder ever and a terrific defender who could basically guard anyone on the court would be useful? You have no clue at all what you're talking about. Rodman is the kind of guy you build an elite defense around in today's NBA.

Did Dennis Rodman go to ISU or something? People get so butthurt about him here.
