How Not to Use a Drive Thru ATM

A) The drivers an idiot
B) As an engineer, I would expect that whole structure not to fall over if something hits it. It appears to me that is was built only to stand compressive forces and no thought was given to shear.

Dollars to donuts it was a woman driver, it had to be, it's science.

Not according to the comments below the video. Here's a story supposedly from the local newspaper's website. This was quoted in the comments but the original link to the story doesn't seem to work.

At approximately 3 PM, Tuesday, July 2, a 2008 Dodge Ram 2500, pulling a new travel trailer, hit the corner of the Texas State Bank Drive-In on Tenaha Street, causing the complete awning to come to the ground. Luckily, the driver of the Dodge, Mickey Miller, of Garrison and his 10 year old son were able to exit their vehicle uninjured.
According to Miller he was circling the bank to park on the other side when the corner of his travel trailer caught the corner of the bank awning. Next thing he heard was a rumble as the awning started falling against his driver’s side door. Somehow he was able to unbuckle the seat beat and exit the other side of his truck as it was falling.
Mark Ivy of Texas State Bank stated that the main lobby would be open for business while the drive-in is being repaired.

I'm pretty sure that the "Getting hit by a travel trailer pulled by a dodge ram with an idiot at the wheel" Load case isn't in the ASCE 7 load combinations. I am surprised that it failed that badly though.

When it fell, i didn't look like there were I Beam or any steel in the support columns. The columns literally looked like stacked and mortared block that they set a roof on.

I think properly designed, it should have bent substantially but not just drop to the ground.

That video is fake. The ATM said there were no transaction fees. Not possible.
