Favre asks to be released

That SON OF A *****.

Packers keep Favre, they lose Rodgers when he becomes a FA in '09.

They release him, and half the fanbase will be PO'd.

Well, I'd skyrocket up the season ticket list...Sorry Brett, but the Green Bay Packers are bigger than one man.

Why is it that some of the best players in sports leave the game after trying a failed comback or playing a year or more too long than they should? M&M had a whole segment on this once and I'm not sure anyone came up with a good name that was retired, came back and had a successful comeback. Had some names of players that did leave on top of their game though but none that left while on top and came back and still ended on top.

Jordan did...the first time...

Favre's legacy is already on the verge of being ruined with all this crap, he might as well come back and throw some more interceptions.

He ended the season with almost as much support as he's probably ever had, but people wanted him to say right away that he was in for one more season or he was done for good - myself included. I would have supported him staying around one more year, I think he'd still be incredibly good, but I can't stand the off again on again stuff that he is doing and I think it's time to just call it good. He's getting old, won't survive the big hits as well and risks ruining the public support that he's always been able to thrive on. He's a great guy but even a great guy can make bad decisions that tarnish what they've done before.

If the NFL has any say in it I guarantee they will want him in the NFC North. That way we can get ESPN, Madden, etc, etc yammering on for days and weeks about Brett's big visit back to the frozen tundra.....

Just think if he ends up with the Vi-Queens. I think the Pack plays them to kick off the season.

I am not a Packer fan, but this is unfair for them and the GM. Favre decided to retire, held his press conference, and thus the Packers concentrated on Rodgers. Didn't they also draft TWO QB's?

In Green Bay, Monday Night, and they're retiring Favre's number at halftime.

There is always room for an old, mature qb in the NFL. Just ask ancient Vinny testaverde.

Perhaps a viking in disguise?

Brett Favre is rapidly becoming the Roger Clemens of the NFL.

Not nearly the same circumstances, but in general I agree...

My respect for Favre has dwindled in that last few months. He could not have handled this entire situation any worse.

Does anybody trust anything this bozo says anymore?

If I'm the Packers, or a Packers fan, I say "good riddance" to the the indecisive, selfish, obviously confused, former hero.

Unfair to his teammates, unfair to the fans, unfair to the organization. This has really become a joke.
