King will be on Lazard wherever he lines up

How about this one?

Ford is really good. I'd have no problem if someone said he was better than Lazard.

Disagree. Would you rather have a guy play the whole game and make 1 catch for 65 yards a guy play the whole game and have 7 catches for 110 yards?
The 1 big play is nice but I'd rather have the guy that contributes throughout the game.

Many consider Bo Williams the best ISU running back ever. He averaged 25 yards per carry!!!

No. No you can't especially in the systems he's been in.

Yeah you can. Less focus from the defense, a much better offensive scheme, better OL to give him more route options and a better QB. Lazard will be the focus of the defense every game this season

Yeah, Jake had a great year last year. Really happy for him. The two guys had pretty comparable passing stats, which is somewhat shocking to me with the talent disparity of the guys they had to throw to and their health status throughout the year. That 2 OT game with Indiana sure helped pad Jake's passing stats, that's for sure. CJ had a pretty good edge on him in rushing, and helped his team to a #2 scoring offense in the B10. Jake didn't do bad coming in at 7th.

CJ also played a garbage schedule during the regular season and was in that system for 3 years. Rudock showed up in the fall and was thrown into the mix. If you get past his first 3 games or so, the guy was very good. It was the Harbaugh effect, no doubt, but you aren't comparing apples to apples. You scored points against on decent defense (Northwestern) and Michigan also bombed them. Besides all of that, Michigan scored more pts/game than Iowa, with less rushing yards and more passing yards all while playing a tougher schedule.

Go look at what Chesson did to Hargraeves last year. Lazard isn't doing that.

Lazard also hasn't even been the focus of defenses the first two games of this season. Like I said, he doesn't strike fear into anyone. Someone you have to deal with? Sure, but his big play potential as far as YAC just isn't elite.

You can be an elite receiver and not have elite big play potential. If big play potential and YAC defines a WR why was he one of the best recruits at his position out of High School? He's never been that guy

Find another receiver his size that can run the routes like he does. Being a WR isn't just about speed or breaking tackles. There's a reason he was 1st team All Big 12 going into this year as a Junior

Do we have a big play guy after bundrage?

Those guys, in today's game, are TEs. Listen, he's a really good receiver at this level. He has two problems. He doesn't have elite hands and he isn't versatile from the perspective of making plays with the ball in his hands. I'm really glad we have him, I just don't see him as a guy that anyone is going to go to drastic measures to stop and when he gets his production, it seldom comes easy because he doesn't separate all that well. That stuff can get better but to this point, he's a guy, to me who gets drafted in the mid rounds as a really high floor guy who will always be on a roster because he's solid. Sure, that's the best WR we've had in forever but that doesn't mean he's elite.

Then why was he ranked so high out of High School if he's not an elite WR? Calling him a TE kind of doubles down on you not knowing what you're talking about here.

I don't think some people understand that getting open to catch a ball is a skill and not just luck. I'm guessing those people think Reggie Bush is the greatest RB of all time too because he could make plays with the ball in his hands

He was ranked 11th by composite. Go ask Rivals why he dropped form 1 to 7. They're going to say it was because the guys above him were more explosive. I didn't really call him a TE either. What I meant was that when the NFL looks at him, that's the function they will see without the blocking ability. You also don't acknowledge his drops either. There must be something with ISU fans where they will pick apart everything a QB fails at but won't acknowledge drops or fumbles.

Anyway, I'm not going to argue the degree of good that our best player is anymore.

Lazard is explosive, just because he's not a 4.4 guy doesn't mean he isn't. For someone who isn't explosive, can't get separation, teams don't worry about, can't make plays, etc he sure is incredibly productive on the football field.

He actually is a good blocker. He's too small to handle DE's and LB's all game (which is maybe what you mean). I wonder if he doesn't end up trying to put on 30 lbs eventually to optimize his NFL future.

Yeah Lazard has always been referenced as a very good run blocker

Explosive receivers don't get run down by linebackers.
