****Official Class of 2017 Recruiting Thread****

Do you think our coaches heavily preach the "we're on ESPN all the time" thing, and/or does it really matter to recruits? I mean, some on here are perplexed when some recruits choose other schools when we have obvious perks here (home sell-outs for example). And I realize recruits are influenced by ALOT of variables as to where they end up. Just curious if TV exposure would work for us vs. Oregon? Obviously didn't help with Vaughn, etc. Heaven knows Oregon has plenty of advantages themselves.

When a school offers you six figures to play there, TV exposure is easy to look past.

True, they do, but they also remain pretty well unknown to 90% of people that care about college basketball, at least till the NCAA's.

Depends on which recruit you ask.

Seems a little early to start a 2019 thread so just post this here.

@CoreyEvans_10 UCF and Iowa State both jumped in with offers last night for 2019 OCP forward CJ Walker. Expect that to just be the beginning

I'm pretty sure we already have a 2019 thread IIRC

Well they will probably have 7 scollies to fill so going after Joiner still isn't that surprising. Both he and McNeill can play the 2 so there is some flexibility there.

I think we are seeing a difference in approach between Prohm and Hoiberg. For the most part, Prohm is going to take a longer view and the core of the team will be HS recruits. JUCO's and Tfr players will be recruited to fill gaps. So it wouldn't surprise me if we sign 5 HS recruits.

Joiner also makes sense from a need standpoint. I think we sign 3 guards, a wing and 2 posts.

It'll be interesting to see if Prohm and staff can keep up this high energy for the long term. Lots of offers. Maybe playing the odds. Fred and him are just two different style coaches. Both are solid overall.

@coreyevans_10 Temple adds one in Nate Pierre-Louis. We previewed his visit yesterday

Pierre-Louis had an offer from ISU but don't think the staff had focused on him for quite a while.

Teddy Allen come on down

Witherspoon to MSU, which I don't think should suprise anyone.

@JonRothstein BREAKING: 2017 point guard Nick Weatherspoon has committed to Mississippi State, source told @CBSSports.

I was thinking we would tone down our recruiting of high schoolers with 3 of the 6 schollies taken. And look to get a couple of JUCOs/Transfers to even out our classes some. That being said would be awesome to get Wigginton here at least for a visit.

The original plan was to tone down hs recruiting but the juco market doesn't look that hot. Also, if Lard doesn't make it we have seven open schollies so signing five hs kids is not a big deal.

Yep, and realistically there could easily someone who leaves in the spring, so no reason to pass on anyone like Wigginton, Sexton or Stokes.
