Stick your head between your legs and kiss your.....

Nah...just grab a couple of those prep books that are everywhere and you will be fine.

I am also preparing to take it within the next few weeks. I am using the 2008 Kaplan Premier Program book. I think it cost around $40 and it has helped a lot. It tells you how to work out each problem type.

I think I saw the 2009 version in the store the other day, so you might want to check that out. Good luck! I'm not looking forward to it :(

Take the practice tests on a desktop. You should make it as close to reality as possible. Also, don't wait until right before the real thing to take the practice tests. Take one right away and figure out what you should spend most of your time reviewing.

This is what worked for me, anyway.

^^^^^This is exactly what I did. Great strategy.

I agree. Some of the books usually come with a CD that have practice tests on them. This way you get used to not being able to write and take notes directly on the test since it's on the computer.

Yeah, just get one of those books with the test questions and study the hell out of it. I found the GMAT to be pretty easy...especially if you are good at things like grammar. Got a good enough score to get into some pretty good programs. Unfortunately, my GPA let me down.

I took it back in 99 with no prep. I did well on the math and logic stuff. I think I was in the 90 percentile. On the English and Writing, I totally bombed. I got like 25th percentile. Yet, my combined score was enough to allow me to start my MBA at the time at UW-LaCrosse.

PS..I never finished my MBA and no longer have any motivation to do so.

Does anyone know if you receive your score immediately since it is a computerized test? I thought I read that somewhere, but can't remember. I just didn't know how that would work since there is a writing section.

I would like to apply to schools right when I'm done taking it, so I hope this is true.

I took the computerized GRE recently, and you get your score instantly on that. I'm guessing the GMAT is the same.

You get that part of your score right away, takes a couple weeks for the entire score though to include the verbal part. I really didn't study a whole lot for it, took a practice test or two and did pretty well. I would say study up on the algebra, a lot of equations I hadn't used for a long time that I had to recall, seems like there was a lot of trig if I remember right.
