What positions are solid for next year?

QB- Meyer is solid, Arnaud will push him and is a solid #2

TB- Scales has not proven to be able to carry the load. He neither shown the ability to be a great player or the ability to stay healthy. Maybe Josh Johnson will improve and play to the hype of last pre-season? Also there is Alexander Robinson.

FB- Ebner should not see the field. That saying, Walk-on Freshmen Taylor Mansfield in my opinion is the next Ryan Kock. The kid is massive being Kock's size as a frosh and a neck wider than his head. He was all-everything at Decorah and I think he will make an impact somewhere on the field.

TE- Barkema is solid but not spectacular. The next in line is Derrick Catlett, he isn't on the same playing field as Barkema

OL- Stephens is our best player, Schmeling is second. We've got some average guards, and they are by far our strength. Lee Tibbs is a goofy looking mofo, but maybe he can contribute.

WR- Blythe, Sumrall, Moses, Hamiltion, Messiah, Jones, Montgomery...we will be fine

DL- Tuba is a good NG, Barkema needs to bulk up and play inside, Parker has skills but was not physically ready, Frere was even more physically outmatched. The wildcard is Kurtis Taylor, who knows?

LB- Bowen and McKenzie are special players. Carper and Banks both have experience and we have some young ringers in Garrin, Means, and Smith chompin at the bit, were good here

DB- Who knows? Singleton is prolly a lock and Drenard Williams is better than Johnson at CB. James Smith should make Caleb Berg go back to only playing ST which is bad news for offenses across the Big 12 haha, Harris showed some raw ability and should improve with experience. Look for a guy like Damilyn Tanner to break through here.

ST- Culbertson can kick in every game but the last one, Mahoski is a guy who could be really great if you take his HS career into account. Brandtner apparently has the most heart on the team haha, but he is also solid. Purvis overcame early season jitters and settled down to be a good LS

Sorry for the length of this but I just got back from the Guns N Roses concert at Hilton and my adrenaline is still pumpin

That's not too hard. On a scale of 1-10, one being solid, ten being a wreck, here's how I'd rate ISU's returners:

QB: 2
RB: 6
TE: 4
OL: 9
WR: 4
DL: 7
LB: 3
CB: 6
S: 7

I'd say that ISU is sitting pretty well at QB, WR and LB. They are decent at RB, TE, DL, CB and S...all could use a newcomer or two to increase the competition. OL is a disaster area that needs multiple JUCOs to be average. Next year's team pretty much depends on which JUCOs Chizik can find in the next two months.

I'm guessing you mean Braaksma not Barkema.

one thing is for sure. we will have one of the best linebacker units in the big 12 if not the entire nation. bowen and McKenzie are studs and Mac said that carper was grading out higher than those two before he got hurt.

I can't wait to see how Chizik uses the talents of this group.

OL is a 9 and CB are 6. What in the world would it take to be a 10. Our Oline was terrible and all the guys coming back were quoted as being too big of drop to compete for a starting spot.

The CB's couldnt stop anybody, I dont know how they could be a 6. That is just below average.

Wow! Some great analysis of next years outlook. Thanks for the super stuff to read...better than Sporting News or ESPN.
