****Official Class of 2017 Recruiting Thread****

Stokes reminds me of Victor Alexander a little bit. A big man with great hands and feet.

Wigginton and Stokes would be great additions. Funny how everyone questioned Prohm and Campbell's ability to recruit at ISU and they are both doing a great job. It may take a year to get these young guys up to speed, but the future looks good.
 
I like the idea of Wigginton playing behind DJ for one year. Much like Monte playing behind Kane his freshman year. I think that year of learning from an experienced player helped Monte mature.

If they would all sign in November, it would essentially be a freshman team, all with upside.

With 7ish being filled, I think that's a good spot to reassess and fill out the rest next year.

Wigginton would play a lot his freshman year. Darius McNeill would play behind DJ. If I had to guess.

To be fair that was the plan but by the time conference season started Monte took over the PG position and moved Kane to the SG (bumping Thomas to the bench). I could easily see the same scenario occurring if Lindell were to come to Ames.

Oh I totally agree that Wigginton would get considerable playing time his freshman year. Just saying that learning from a senior is certainly a positive. Perhaps even starting the season coming off the bench like Monte (in the non-con games) would be to his benefit.

No disagreement there. I loved when they did that with monte, because whenever he would come in during the non-con I would perk up and enjoy watching him to see how he handled the pressure and acted on the court both offensively and defensively. And although he was a bit out-matched size-wise as a freshman on D, him going against DeAndre helped a lot. But I loved watching him as every game went by and he continued to not screw up, and knew by the time they put him in the starting rotation that he was ready. Not only because he got enough reps during the non-con to show that he could hold is own, but also was on the second team going against DeAndre every day. Now, DJ is NOT a physically imposing player like Kane, but he would definitely help the defensive learning curve for Lindell .

The more video I watch of Stokes, the more I would love to have him here. For a 270 pound freight train he can run the point, shoot from outside, and will just tear you apart down low if you're not strong.

If we land both Stokes and Wigginton on the 24th, this would be our best recruiting class in history, by far. Just thinking about the possibility of landing these two is insanely exciting and if it came true I would go bonkers as would any serious ISUMB fan.

We actually had a better recruiting class when Floyd was here (#1 in some circles). Problem is, by the time the season came around, it was a shell of itself.

I would go pretty bonkers as well, by the way.

Yes, we've had a couple of highly ranked classes, where much of the class never made it to the court.

Monte also had the luxury of another PG(point forward) on the court his first 3 years. Monte has worked hard to become the player he is but he got brought in to the absolute perfect situation for a PG to develop. Wigginton won't have that luxury regardless, his(or whomever the PG is after Monte/DJ) development will be much more of a trial by fire situation, barring any stud grad transfer coming over. Sexton would be the exception but how long would he even be here?

Yes CJ was part of that class.....we would have been very good that year but I guess it all worked out fairly well Fizer's 2nd and 3rd years here. ;)

Joiner's recruitment is starting to gain more attention. Staff may have identified another player early.

@JKim97 UAB, Illinois State, Missouri, & Cincinnati will all be in tomorrow for the 2017 PG Elijah Joiner. Iowa State expected on Sunday.

Seems strange that we're still in on him considering we just landed a CG.
