ISU may or may not be Iowa's Super Bowl, but CF sure is YeahBuddy's Super Bowl.

My favorite quote is where he says this is our rivalry game, not one of our rivalry games
“Coach (Kirk) Ferentz sits us down and said, ‘This is Iowa State, and they don’t like us,’” Iowa senior linebacker Quinton Alston said. “This is our rivalry game — the Cy-Hawk Game — and it’s a big game for the city and the state. So there’s not much to talk about.”
Iowa has played five Big Ten schools at least 74 times, yet its in-state series against Iowa State has surpassed the others in trash talking and intensity, Alston said.
“I just hate Iowa State,” Iowa linebacker Fred Barr said. “I hate those guys. I can’t stand them."
“It’s not the coach that I hate or the players, it’s Iowa State,” offensive lineman Julian Vandervelde said in 2007. “It’s the entity that they are. It’s the whole rivalry"
“When people think rivalries, the first that comes up is Iowa State,” Iowa cornerback Shaun Prater said in 2011.
Ferentz hardly displays a public “rah-rah” persona before any game. His levelheaded approach upsets some Iowa fans, who accused him after losses of not placing enough importance on the series.
But Ferentz’s public comments and actions belie that perception. The program has placed Iowa State posters on doors in its football facility. An examination of his pregame comments over the last decade shows his respect for Iowa State and the series.

What it shows is that Iowa State has recruited 15 more players than Iowa (almost an entire class) and is still rated lower.
Unless I am missing it, I dont see where anybody says the #1 goal of the Iowa program is to beat ISU.
Of course they want to win an instate rivalry game.
Ok, by average, Iowa is 51 and ISU is 60, HUGE difference. Not ISU's fault Iowa has a problem with player retention.
Actually using basic logic Iowa State would be the program with retention issues.
.500 means we are even with you which reinforces my argument...we are damn-near even...aka...not a huge margin between the programs.
There's the troll response I've been waiting for
In the last 15 years Iowa has a winning record against Michigan. Therefore Iowa program >/= Michigan program. I can get used to that.
Just wanted to make sure we're all in agreement here.
He will swim at Iowa. He won't be a football player.Being reported that Oliver Martin cancelled his official visit to Oregon this weekend and will instead be at Kinnick for the 2nd weekend in a row.
Offers from Oregon, Notre Dame, Michigan, MSU, Wisky, etc.
Also reported Garza will be there, can't wait for Woody 0.2Martin had another nice game tonight in some wet conditions, esp 1st half. 60-70ish yd td catch. Kid is a stud
Heard you guys had another recruit bail after watching last weeks game-first of many
You think the programs are close?i keep saying i think iowa is a better program. i'll say it again: i think iowa is a better program than iowa state. i don't think i've seen an iowa state fan claim that iowa state is an elite program a single time in this thread.
however i DO think iowa state is pretty damn close to iowa. i do NOT think there is some huge gap between the two programs. which is why, when we play, we've had success against you recently.
iowa is closer to iowa state than they are to alabama.
He'll bail too-once he sees a few games
