There has never been a more appropriate time for this meme.
It would be incredibly cool (like a landmark event in human history-cool) if this had intelligent origin to it.

To say it would be a landmark event is even an understatement. This would be a game changer maybe unlike anything in human history.
The problem is unless they are advanced to the point of denying what we think we know of physics, we won't be able to communicate due to distance. Because of that, my hopes are low that this could ever be confirmed beyond doubt.
But will they like sports? Will they be Cyclone fans?

It will turn out to be aliens, but it will be their broadcast equivalent of "Keeping up with the Kardasians" so we won't be able to attribute it to intelligent life.
I think it'd be very cool just to have confirmation of an intelligent communication, even without communication back.
The problem is the time involved for transmitting the signals. So the Star is 95 light years away. Not far at all if I remember correctly but would take 95 years to send a signal and presumably another 95 years to get a reply. If they choose to do such a thing. It also means that the earliest radio waves would be making it near this planet.

Absolutely. I was just saying for it to be the kind of groundbreaking I was talking about it would require reciprocation. Otherwise loads of people would remain in complete denial that it was anything at all.

Billions of stars, mega billions of planets orbiting those stars...IMO, it's hubris to think that we are the only intelligent life in the universe. They're out there...and someday we'll connect with them.
