As odd as it may seem, it's hard to not put faith in this staff's ability to assess and recruit.

They are paid millions and millions and millions of dollars to do that and were able to do it before arriving in Ames. Then, they put together one of ISU's best classes in school history in ~65 days.
I actually CyTwins was referring to Campbell working towards a system over best athletes/players. There was a podcast that he mentioned the coaches look for certain qualities at certain positions. A player could be absolutely fantastic for some other teams, but if they don't fit the ISU system, no reason to recruit them.
He's not lying. Doesn't mean he won't be any good, but Campbell just didn't want him.
It was ranked 53rd by Rivals and benefited in the rankings because of the high number of players they signed, 29.
They will probably end up right around the same place in this years recruiting rankings.
Any staff is going to have a tough time winning in a P5 conference if they cant break into the Top 50 in recruiting rankings.
First off, you don't automatically get a boost in the ranking because you signed signed a bunch of bodies. They actually have to be rated high enough to do more good than not.
Secondly, the biggest difference between last years class and basically all the ones before it is the number of P5 offers the kids had. As a fan of ISU, that's something that I follow. You wouldn't see that because you're not a fan.
You do realize the 52nd ranking was as... high? as it was because of the number of commits (29) right? - which is also the current case.
The average rating was actually pretty low, and powerhouses Wake Forest, Memphis, USF, Syracuse and Rutgers all had higher averages.
Rhoads had a better class in 2014; and this years class already has a worse average than last year - which is odd because I thought that wouldn't have happened until the games actually started.
