I would have thought Ohio State losing to North Carolina would have been bigger news, but the front page of ESPN's Men's College Basketball has a pic of McD. A nice story about UNI's team and the game last night.

If this has already been posted, I am sorry for the duplication....

Nice article. Well Written. Except for calling it the Hawkeye State. We all know that isn't true.

Decent write up, but the writer said that UNI's posts were undersized. Their posts were their strong point. And I known Brooks isn't a big time scorer in college, but he does have a new role this year without Jacobson and he is the career points scoring leader in the history of Iowa High School Basketball so I would say he can fill it up. It bothers me sometimes that reporters don't do their research for schools like ISU.

Just so everybody knows, the article is written by a guy who covers Mid-Majors specifically, so that's probably why the article is featured as opposed to the UNC-OSU game.

Greg McDermott's Cyclones lost to his old team, but they're not alone.
Talkin' 'Bout A Revolution
What if George Mason's Final Four run wasn't a one-time miracle? Given all the marquee mid-major wins already the season, Pat Forde wonders if it was just the start of something bigger. Story
Whelliston: No. Iowa gave McDermott a taste of what he left

He wasn't using it in the sense of UIowa sports, he was using it in the sense of the state's official nickname. If this game had been in Texas, he would have used the phrase "The Lone Star State".

That was a really nice article. He's one of the most talented sportswriters I've read in quite a while. Very good use of language and pathos.

Thanks for the link!

I think of Iowa as The Gateway to the Square States.......
