Malou staying in NBA Draft

no. this is a "don't **** around with players who have shown they don't know what they're doing and waste everyone's time" post. i don't care if we get transfers or guys who have questionable relationships at previous schools. whatever. what is stupid is going after guys who have any question on eligibility. just get guys you know will come to the school and be done with it.

Lol.... What? With a guy that good you take a chance if he wants to come. Sounds like they thought there was a much better chance previously. It's not like they stopped recruiting

^^^This, how much time and energy have our coaching staff wasted on guys like Malou and Vaughn? What a joke.

Kid deserves to make some real money and I'll root for him. That said F#@%$ the NCAA for the millionth time. They made his life harder at every turn just like any good ole corrupt monopoly.

We don't really know if the NCAA did anything or not. Could have been on his end. Prohm hinted he may not be able to get enough credits to graduate by fall. Or Malou could have just decided to stay in the draft since he is getting a workout with a team and maybe more

So next year's lineup:

2017 could be a rough year.....hopefully Long/Jackson/Lard/Young/Babb can hang.

What does Vaughn have to do with this? He wasn't an eligibility risk. So you don't want the staff going after high ranked recruits?

It's not a nut kick unless people were actually expecting him to make it...which should have been no one.

We all expected him to make it a few months ago. This nut kick was softened by reports in the last few weeks.

i feel bad for the kid after reading his story but right now i don't even think about him. time to move on. sick of guys committing and have questions. maybe we should start recruiting guys we know have solid backgrounds.

Agreed because guys like Royce White ruin the program.

Im glad this will he/wont he saga is over. But now I have a serious case of Malou Balls.

That sounds like a form of "the right way." Good coaches go after the best talent they can get, and worry about issues later. Then there's the coaches that refuse to take chances on recruits, like Fran. I'll take Fred and Prohm's strategy every year.

Yep. High risk, high reward. We got to take chances to compete against blue bloods. We will be fine without Malou.

I don't think Malou was going to be here in 2017-18 anyways. He was always told he was going to play at ISU for one year

you can read it however you want. there's a difference between going after a guy like White who has problems but whose eligibility was never questioned. That's a solid choice. Then there's wasting time and scholarships on guys whose eligibility are unknown. Those are completely separate things. You understand the difference?

Who else have we done this with? Seems like Malou is the only one. I guess we could recruit a bunch of D2 level players who we know for sure will be eligible.

I'll take the opinion of the guys who make millions to put together a winning program over guys on a message board, no offense.

Prohm knew it was a risk & still thought he was worth going after. Ya win some, ya lose some.

Bummer, he could have had a great season at ISU. Hopefully he makes it in the NBA.

I wonder if they knew their case with the NCAA wasn't great, or if it's just that he didn't want to wait around for a decision and risk being left in no man's land.

We had at least 6 open scholarships, not like we missed on other guys because we went after Malou, we hadn't even filled them all until this past weekend with the guys leaving the program.
