Malou staying in NBA Draft

Good on Prohm to be proactive and not reactive about this.

what seemed like 4 years of teasing us finally ends with a nice nut kick. Hope he sticks on somewhere in the league though. I'll definitely be rooting for him
It's not a nut kick unless people were actually expecting him to make it...which should have been no one.

So if we don't fill Malou's spot this year, then next year we will have 7 open scholarships, correct?

Bowie
Burton
Holden
Mitrou-Long
Morris
Thomas
Malou's spot

That is insane. In that scenario you have to take a combo of 2 and 4 year players to space out the roster. It will sure be interesting on the recruiting front.

I'm not too worried, Prohm has already shown an ability to adjust on the fly, getting replacements for late loses. The roster is fine for next year, get a traditional transfer a couple of JuCo's and a few 4 year players. Growth from the freshman this year into major roles in two years and the program should be fine.

One thing for sure Prohm will have the players and team he chose next year and well see the results right away.

Norvelle 2.0

Not really, maybe in the beginning but he was signed with ISU. Also Norvell made his own bed this kid never had a bed and got conned into wasting 4 years chasing his dream. I hope his story ends a lot better, and I think it will, he deserves a break.

If Ernst wants to be here, would we re-consider him coming back, or does the coaching staff feel we can do better?

I like Ernst and feel he can provide us with some physicality that we need.

I think it's pretty apparent they knew Malou wasn't going to be here and still had Ernst leave

Yeah that is a huge class and don't forget this class was 7 guys before the Malou news. so two years in a row a lot of spots to fill. Hopefully that playing time is a big selling point to some high ranked kids

Was hoping to watch him wearing cardinal and gold. Best of luck to Malou, he deserves a happy ending.

Anyone know much about our recruitment of Romello White?
John Rothstein had a timely tweet mentioning that he was seeking release from his LOI to Georgia Tech, 6-9 top 100 (77 overall according to ESPN) Power forward who had ISU listed as one of his prospective teams....

Sounds like (no sources, just me following twitter) ISU might take a sit-out transfer for next year.

i feel bad for the kid after reading his story but right now i don't even think about him. time to move on. sick of guys committing and have questions. maybe we should start recruiting guys we know have solid backgrounds.

Hope it works out for him. Kid deserves a real shot without the wrong folks taking advantage of him.

Would have been cool to see the Internet legend make it to Hilton.

Yeah, it sucks that he won't make it here, as I was really, really excited about the guy, but I definitely hope he can latch on somewhere and make some money.

Is this a "Do things the right way" post?

Malou was the kind of talent that was worth taking a chance on. Sure, it didn't work out, but it was totally worth the roll of the dice.

no. this is a "don't **** around with players who have shown they don't know what they're doing and waste everyone's time" post. i don't care if we get transfers or guys who have questionable relationships at previous schools. whatever. what is stupid is going after guys who have any question on eligibility. just get guys you know will come to the school and be done with it.

Kid deserves to make some real money and I'll root for him. That said F#@%$ the NCAA for the millionth time. They made his life harder at every turn just like any good ole corrupt monopoly.
