BLOG: The finishing touches on the 16-17 roster

Re: BLOG: Th finishing touches on the 16-17 roster

Is Cornish the only transfer name you've heard?

Is Lard in good shape to be eligible?

Re: BLOG: Th finishing touches on the 16-17 roster

This totally makes sense why we are going after Jordan Cornish. Later this week once Prohm gets the official word about Malou, I expect us to go hard after Cornish

Re: BLOG: Th finishing touches on the 16-17 roster

What date will we know with certainty whether Malou will be a Cyclone next year?

ESPN claims his case is more complex than Cheick Diallo's. I was kind of hoping that what happened in HS/prep school doesn't matter so long as he earns an Associate's Degree. Apparently, I am incorrect. Also, he does not yet have that finished up and will require summer school at DMACC to do so.

If he doesn't withdraw by May 25 from the NBA draft, he will not be a Cyclone. So the NCAA has to figure this out in the next 2 weeks.

Basically, .01% chance Malou every suits up for ISU.

(IIRC) It's all about when his eligibility clock started.

A rock solid source of mine says that Iowa State won't take Cornish. Not sure exactly why or what the story is but that ain't happening.

Interesting. I wonder who else is available. Seems like SG or SF would be the positions of need next year assuming we will likely get a good PG in the 2017 class.

Interesting considering Cornish is planning a visit per CBSSports's Rothstien tweet earlier today. I trust the staff to know the roster needs for next year and CW source more than a tweet though.

@JonRothstien UNLV transfer Jordan Cornish told @CBSSports he has cut his list to Butler, Iowa State, Grand Canyon, and Purdue. Will set visits soon.

Timing could be an issue, I do think the staff would like some clarification on the Malou situation before going all in on a transfer as of today. The scholarship situation would dictate some patience, especially with May 25 date coming up soon.

The last tweet I saw from him on it was May 4th. CW retweeted that old one today so maybe that's why people thought it was new

Does Cornish know this yet? Haha Since the tweet today just said he cut his list to four and we were still on it.!?!?

If you look closely at the date of the tweet, you will see it's not from today. That said, the date may not be visible on some platforms, but it is from May 4.

We have so many roster gaps for the 2017/18 season, we can pretty much go after the best transfer we can sign. Sure we lose Morris, Long and Thomas. But we also lose Burton, Bowie and Holden. Plus if we have an open spot, that means Malou didn't make it to campus.

In some ways, a transfer post makes more sense than a guard. Posts can be tougher to find and the redshirt year might be beneficial from a development perspective. A transfer guard would be a good get also, especially if we could get a PG. However, it should be easier to find JUCO or HS guards/SF in the 2017 class that can play immediately.
