On to Football Season

By September they'll be odds on favorites for a playoff berth. That's the annual progression of hawk fandom.

January to March - focus on all the players lost and think next year will be a struggle. 5-6 wins
April to May - Talk amongst the other hawk fans about how good all those players looked in the spring practice. 6-7 wins
June to August - scouring through rosters and schedule to tell yourselves that the Hawks are better than those teams. 8-9 wins
August - News coming out of fall camp all sounds great. The offense can't be stopped and the defense won't give up a yard. 11 wins and a spot in the conference championship game.
It worked last year!

Warren, Tucker, Lazard and Cotton-Moya all have a very good chance of earning 1st team All-Big 12 next season and all are pretty highly regarded NFL draft prospects. Then you have guys like Payne and Campos who have a good chance of earning some type of all-conference honor as well.
Tucker isn't a highly regarded NFL draft pick.
Peavy isn't better than Mabin. At least NFL prospect wise.

ISUs best prospects are Moya, Lazard and Campos.

Agree, Tucker isn't a good NFL Prospect because of his height. I still think he's the better college player and has been much more productive on the field against better competition. I don't know much about Mabin besides Lazard torched him last year

Nah, the hoks have become all about being the "surprise underdog" team that they think America loves. It's self deprecating until they get to Big 10 season where they know the competition goes WAY down and they can start edging out on to that limb...then they can't contain themselves and go full hok as you can see from the invasion of hok fans on to this site from about late Oct-January.

70 yards (likely not all against Mabin) is torched? Even 2* Vandeberg had 114 yards receiving in that game. What's worse than torched... obliterated? I guess that's what Vandeberg did to ISU.

According to Hawk fans King shut down Lazard for half the game so Mabin gave up 70 yards to Lazard in a half. That's called getting torched

King shut Lazard down. He got some catches out wide against Mabin, and some lining up in the slot running against our safeties. He didn't get all 7 and 70 against Mabin.

Just like after Warren and Lazard of their stats against the pathetic defenses in the Big 12.

A little FEI learning coming.

The Big 12 had 5 of their teams in the top 30 in DFEI. The Big 10 had 6 out of 14 teams. Iowa faced two of them, so congrats on that.

The same thing basically happened on the offensive side where Iowa dodged a bunch of bullets with the exception of Indiana.

So...the big ten had more is what you're saying

At home against Iowa the Cyclones got 310 total yards, 243 passing, 63 rushing, and 17 points. Here's how they did against Big 12 defenses:

Kansas - 512t, 269p, 243r, 38 pts
TexTech - 495t, 180p, 315r, 31 pts
TCU - 461t, 346p, 115r, 21 pts
Baylor - 388t, 156p, 232r, 27 pts
Texas - 426t, 188p, 238r, 24 pts
Oklahoma - 374t, 260p, 114r, 16 pts
Okie St. - 411t, 162p, 249r, 31 pts
KSU - 448t, 210p, 238r, 35 pts
WVU - 284t, 191p, 93r, 6 pts

Says all you need to know about defenses in the Big 12.

I think that speaks more to Iowa's intensity in a rivalry game

That's what happens when your inept coach who has an elite RB and a great QB on the bench to start the season

Warren gonna be a good one. You shouldn't bash Sam though. He got nearly 1/3 of ISU's 63 rushing yards against Iowa on a single run.

And Rhoads gave him 9 carries the first two weeks of the season. Sam wasn't as bad as some make him out to be but Joel is better IMO. Compile that with Iowa's will to win that game and ISU didn't have much of a chance to move the ball on the ground even if it was against a weaker defensive front with Ott out
