Ok.....can someone explain to this old fart what the basis of the Mafia games are. Just rough nickel tour, not the $20 explanation.
I tried reading how to play and just gave up.

On a completely unrelated note, it's freaking freezing here. I'm going to have to turn the heat back on when I get home. It was only 60 in the house when I left this morning and I don't think we'll hit 50 today

Two teams (usually...some variations). Mafia vs innos in a 1:3 or 1:4 ratio. Mafia can pm each other. Innos are usually standalone. Innos try to eliminate mafia during the day session; some discussion, everyone votes (mafia AND inno) and one person is "lynched" (voted out). After that person's role is revealed as mafia or innocent, the "specials" take a turn. Special innos have various powers - to "instakill" (one time kill of another player), to "investigate" (ask the mayor what a certain player's role is), or to save (protect themselves from the mafia hit, or protect another player from a mafia hit). Mafia gets one hit (kill)...they try to kill innos (special innos if they guess right). All of these are done by pm'ing the mayor (the game manager), who then announces them during the "night" session. Each morning, repeat - until one team eliminates the other.

Best way to learn it is to just "dive in" and play. Some of the longtime players are VERY good at the game, but having new blood really helps keep the game fresh because noobs can be unpredictable.

So vaporware is like marriage sex? Big promotion and anticipation about it happening and then it either gets delayed or never even happens? So to help keep things discreet, the next time youre asked about our intimacy, we can just say it's in the vaporware stage.

Maybe it'll change when the kids get older, but I got nothing to complain about right now.

Also similar to Vaporware in that, instead of sitting around and waiting for the actual product, it is sometimes best to just take care of it yourself.

2 track meets tonight, had to decide who goes where. I got the daughters in case I'm in in the field. Am not there so I get the long, always cold and windy, crappy one.

Should I get new tires? All 4 are dry-rotted/ing, well over 75,000 miles, and about 15-20% tread left. My boss said if the cords aren't showing, they're still good.

It just depends on your comfort level. With just myself in the car, I probably ride them out and look into new tires before winter. Knowing my wife and kid ride with me, I'd probably get new ones sooner than later.

I think I need to link the Michelin man commercial with driving in the rain etc. Running on bad tires is not the way to save money even if the savings/spending shame thread might have proponents of doing just hat.

Lesson From the Wayback: Drove home from Ames to Manchester on a hot summer day. Had cord showing on two very bald tires by the time I got home.
Young Boxster and Dad Boxster were all  when we saw that. Me from knowing how fast and hard I had driven that day and the old man out of fear for my life. Got new tires before I headed back. Never ever do this.

Add to that you get worse gas mileage on bad tread or poorly balanced tires....

It's just me mainly, sometimes my sister will be in the car. Honestly, I don't feel 100% safe in the car, even though I only drive 13 miles a day.

If cost is an issue maybe do the front now and the back in the fall or something like that. If they are illegal and you get in an accident it is just something else to add to the list of charges.

I had some expensive goodyears on the Ford POS with about 90K (they had a 80K warranty, I think...so expensive because of the life span, not because they were super high performance or anything), they were just barely at the wear indicators, but I replaced them with run of the mill bridgestones. Holy crap, the difference in wet/snow traction.

I used to know the exact spots where I'd do light hydroplaning on my drive to/from work with my old tires, since it had been happening for the past 2 years (but started so gradually I didn't really tell the difference). First week after new tires it rained and I didn't lose traction once on the way home. Good tread does make a huge difference.
