My oldest is having trouble sleeping. Has been waking up every day around 3-5 am. Gave him some melatonin the past few days, but that still didn't help. Any suggestions?

Pop an Ambian (spelling?) into him? I've head that stuff gives you funky dreams though.

He's only 8 years old. Not sure he can take that. I'll see if my wife has time to take him to his pediatrician tomorrow. He's been very tired at school and I hate seeing him so sleepy in the daytime.

Try covering his crate with a blanket. Should help stop the whining.

My wife has been using diffusers for essential oils. I don't usually believe that Oprah-type stuff but I do think there is something to these that helps.

Also, Nickels idea about Benedryl may not be all that bad for a night or two, just to get him back on track.

I have a few dandelions in the yard currently (nothing like the above). I don't get out to spray/ treat the lawn until relatively late in the game due to tax season.

I noticed today that my ********** neighbor apparently decided to spray roundup or some such from his property onto mine as I have a number of foot long streaks of dead grass near where a dandelion was growing.

One thought I had regarding an appropriate response was to grow as many of the damn things as possible to spite him, perhaps gathering seeds and surreptitiously blowing them onto his lawn. The leading idea currently is to fill a balloon with roundup, launch it well over the property line onto his lawn and then pull back the burst balloon with a string tied to it. Other thoughts, folks?
Don't listen to these people saying to do this at night. Do the balloon thing during the day and film it. I've got to see that thing in action.

So I've been letting lulu sleep in my bed, but she's been waking me up at 6:15ish...which totally is fine if she needs to pee. After going it's an onslaught of her walking on me and licking my face/back/armpit.

This morning enough was enough, she went back in the crate that is in my bedroom and I grabbed a pillow to sleep on the couch for another hour or so.

usually 9-9:30pm.

Then it's not early per say. Our just turned 9 goes around 10 and gets up at 6:30, when I wake him. Keep him up a little longer and see if that helps. They go through stages I know. I can't remember when that is, have too many older kids to remember not fighting them out of bed.

Man you guys are crazy with the late bedtimes, the time between when the kids go to bed and when I go to bed is the best. On school nights the 2 year old is in bed at 7:30 and the 9 year old is in bed at 8:00 and then it's all mommy daddy time.

There's way worse guilty pleasures than that... like The Mummy 2.

Mummy 2 is partly a fail. Because of the little rugrat, Weitz had to play momma bear rather than the adorably quirky single gal of the first movie and she's damned by the part to have to be too serious. An okay B movie only because the casting of some of the bit players is pretty good (exception being the mummy's mate, she was wooden and terrible). And for a movie with generally good special effects the Rock Johnson scorpion was just awful.
