I.C. is one of the great tailgating experiences. Hopefully some of you who haven't will get there this year.

This game should NEVER be at night. I understand that TV makes all the decisions on this though. Neither Iowa or ISU has any say one way or the other.

I agree though, this might finally put an end to this series, which would be fine with me. It should be a great, fun, instate rivalry game, but it just isn't that. It's far from that. It's generally just pure hatred coming from both sides, and nothing really good comes from it at all.
The sooner this series ends the better IMO. And if they play this thing at night this year, that might just be enough to do it. The true football fans on both sides don't really want this thing to continue. It's not an enjoyable game to attend anymore for true football fans. For drunken idiots that don't care about football, sure, it's a great thing. Not so much for the rest of us.

I'd be fine getting rid of the game. We have one non conference P5 game and I'd rather play a team from a good conference that would look better if we won
Right. The only reason ISU's SOS got as high as it did last year was because you played 12-0 and #4 ranked Iowa as one of your OOC games. You remember bragging about that SOS every week, right?
Where do you get this idea? Iowa fans are the only people I've ever talked to that like tailgating at Iowa. Outside of Iowa fans, nobody likes tailgating there, and for good reason, it's terrible.
Every year that goes by, there is less and less parking there. Between the hospital growing and growing, and the football facilities expanding and taking over more and more parking lots, it's become absolutely horrible. Iowa didn't have enough parking before, but now it's nearly gone completely anywhere around the stadium.
Sat in the student section on Jake Knotts interception game. I was expecting way worse. Besides this dumb chick who thought she was entitled to everything and yelled at us for 10 minutes, it wasn't that bad. Few cans/cups thrown at us after that interception, but wasn't bad.
Lot of yelling at us while walking back to we were staying but I feel like that is to be expected.

Something tells me you're not as objective as one might be on this either.
Love tailgating for Iowa games. If you want to tailgate in a big parking lot, you can. Right next to Kinnick, you can. Smaller parking lots around the stadium, you can. In yards on residential streets where it turns into a block party, you can. It's the variety of settings for you to choose from that makes it great, along with everything happening along Melrose.

It has routinely been mentioned in different publications and lists of some of the best tailgating in the country. Fact.
Many members of other fanbases comment on how much they enjoy the tailgating in Iowa City. Fact.

The space crunch has gotten worse over the years, but no, parking is not nearly gone. I park right by the stadium, and I'm a not a donor to the university.
Tailgating in Iowa City sucks and even my friends who are Hawkeye fans will admit that. Cmon man. They'll blame Mason for the demise but the set up is just awful
It would be a damn shame if this series ended, and dont claim Im not a true fan or a drunken idiot just because I hold that opinion. Some of the greatest memories I have attedning ISU football games come from this rivalry. If I had to name the Top 5 games I have ever attended, the 2002, 2005 and 2011 games would probably make the cut. This rivalry is not bad at all and if you think it is you need to open your eyes. Most of us who have friends and family who are fans of the other side can actually have a friendly rivalry without too much hate, and in fact, its a great excuse for me to reach out to friends I dont get to talk to all that often so I would say some good comes from it.
I'm guessing it gets talked up because of Iowa's reputation for being a big party school, but your tailgating layout straight up sucks.
If Kinnick actually had a good layout it might be a fantastic tailgating atmosphere, but walking from one small lot to another and hanging out in some dudes front yard is not my idea of tailgating.
