I know most of the EPL attention is focused on Leicester City right now, but the relegation race is heating up. Aston Villa is getting relegated for sure, but there are three teams within one point for the last two spots. As a Newcastle fan I obviously want them to stay up, so hopefully they can pull out some wins here to end the season.
Because they have some connection to there, either liked a coach or player who played there, or would rather root for the underdog instead of being a bandwagon fan.
Everyone bangwagon's teams that why there's so many Arsenal fans on here. And there aren't any good players on Newcastle.
No they don't. A lot of people do, but I don't and it doesn't look like AMarner does either. Besides, your question was why would someone cheer for Newcastle and I gave you reasons.
Yes a lot of people do. Most people here in America have no connection to the EPL what so ever, they just pick a team that they like. That's why there's so many Arsenal and Man U fans here in America.

Eh, I think BDK has a bit of a point. Plenty of people choose arsenal because they are one of the teams that consistently have a shot. Is it the same as being a Man City or Man U fan? No, but it's up there.
Though in full disclosure, I look down on bandwagon fans. I pay more attention to the Bundesliga, but if someone tells me they're a Bayern fan but have no connection whatsoever to Bayern (and I consider "my family came from there in the 1800s", "I visited there once", or even "I like soft pretzels and traditional German stuff and that's from Bayern") I do an internal eye roll

I hate barca even tho they have Neymar, who is one of my favorite players. My favorite team is Bayern Munich aka the best team in Europe.
And I did bangwagon them. I became a fan when we learn about them in German class lol
