Beasley not drafted in the top 2?

Rose fills a need for the Bulls. Point Guard is the hot position nowadays. Everybody wants the next Chris Paul on their roster. The heat are in the same position as the Bulls, wanting a PG above all else. Plus, they have Shawn Marion who they are paying an incredible amount of money to, who will be playing basically the same game. Beasley may not have the body to play the 4 in the NBA, so he projects to be something of a tweener. Additionally, Pat Riley has said that Beasley isn't really his "type" of player. They figure if they can trade out of the 2nd spot, they can still get their PG, and something else in return.

Why do you think Rose will be a bust? I'm just curious. I think he'll be great.

They were talking about this on Mike and Mike this morning...Beasley's work ethic has been questioned by several teams/scouts. Also, potential character issues as well.

I don't think it is Beasley's athletic abilities that teams are concerned about, I think it is more of his attitude and willingness to work to get better at his game that is the concern.

Pat Riley said he wasn't kean on Beasley and they are talking about trading Marion to LA for Odom and Walton. If that were to happen they wouldn't have a spot for Beasley and would probably look at Mayo.

I think Beasley in MN would be a risky situation because of these concerns too. If he pans out and is paired with Jefferson that team would be better real quick. On the other hand it might not be long until you list him in a long line of draft day busts for the T-Pups.

I think Beasley is the bust waiting to happen... him and Kevin Love.

I hope the T-Wolves get Mayo and play Foye at the 1. Line-up of Foye, Mayo, Brewer, and Jefferson... not sure who would be the 5 but those 4 would have me plenty excited.

I don't think Rose is a bust of monumental proportions. He would have to be worse than Kwame Brown and I don't see that happening.

I said in another post but to me Derrick Rose is Carlos Beltran. A good player who got hot at the perfect time and is now going to benefit b/c of it. He was good all year long and would have been a lottery pick but his play in the final 4 games of the year moved him from the 5-15 range to number 1. I don't see how those games trump Beasley's 30 games but oh well

This is where I stand as well.

Just from watching him play. I don't see that guy on the court and think, 'wow, he is a star'. I don't even think he was Memphis' best player. When you watch Beasley, you immediately know he is the best player on the floor. I think he is the best talent to come out of college in a long time. Better than Oden or Durant. Can you imagine if Durant would have came back so we could have seen them match up in the Big 12? It would have been fun, but I think Beasley would have broke him in half.

I disagree, I think heading into the Final Four I would have had Beasley #1 and Rose #2. But Rose showed he could play in the spotlight and play very well.

Then Beasley's character has come into question. I'm not sure it is so much Rose getting hot at the right time as it is people are worried about Beasley turning into Carmelo.

I would tend to agree with this. My previous post overstated my perception of his bustability.

So you think that if Beasley's and Rose switched teams and Rose got bounced out in the second round of the tourney, he would still be a #2 pick? That's interesting. I guess I could see it but to me he would more than likely be no higher than a 5.

Think about this, most people had Gordon from IU as a top 3 pick before the Hoosiers collapsed at the end of the year. Now he will likely drop to 5-10.

I gave Rose credit for playing well in the Final Four and thought that helped him quite a bit. In my opinion he has been a better PG then Gordon all season long and the Tourny just helped showcase that. With PG's being so highly sought after at this time it would be hard to pass up someone who has his skills and physical advantages.

I go back and forth on Gordon. The one reason I like him is he can shoot and is fairly athletic. The problem I have with him is that he is a tweener. Not a true PG and a relatively small SG.
