Seemingly never ending Iowa MBB thread (still going.....)

And cytwins doing what cytwins does is say a narrative that is incorrect.. Iowa played msu twice, Indiana twice, Purdue twice.. So to say Iowa played a weak conference schedule is a wrong narrative.

Compared to ISU they played a weak conference schedule. I guess if you're comparing them to Missouri or something it wasn't weak.

That's why the play the regular season to get to post season play. And then play a team with comparable regular season success. If your team can't show up at the most important times then maybe that team isn't as good as people thought..

Right, so Iowa going to the Elite 8 via a Temple/UNC-Asheville/Wichita St. route is somehow just as impressive as ISU making it through an Iona/Purdue/Virginia route to the Elite 8? There's too many variables in the tournament to be spouting off about how many teams make the Sweet 16 or how many teams are left at any given point from a conference. All roads in the tournament are not created equally.

I agree with this, it takes luck as well. I will say that this year they could probably play this tournament 10 times and you would get a different champion every time and probably about 20 different final four teams.

Was MSU really full strength either time? No.
You lost both times to Indiana.
But credit for beating Purdue twice.

The B1G as as a whole is watered down however.

now the big ten is a weak basketball conference? Didn't know that. Before you look like an even bigger Buffon, wait until the tournament is played before you call one conference weak. Especially when the past 5 years the big ten has been one of the best basketball conferences out there.,

Try living in the now instead of the past and future. I think Chazz Michael Michaels said it best when he got stoned with the Woodland Fairies and said, "You're livin in the past. Come on. Me and the Woodland Fairies, we're livin in the here and now and we're feelin so free. Come on join us! WOOOOOOOOOO!" Words of wisdom from an ice devouring sex tornado.

Has the big12 really looked all that tuff out of confernce this year?? Isu beat Iowa and cincy good wins but not great.. Kansas beats Kentucky (good win) lost to msu.. Wvu the 2 best occ where blow out losses. Texas tech did they play anybody worth noting? The big12 hasn't yet proven to me that they are indeed the best confence..

This board lives and dies by RPI (this year, other years when the Big 12 isn't doing as well they'll conveniently forget about it).

Oklahoma destroyed Villanova and Wisconsin plus beat Hawaii
Texas beat North Carolina and Vanderbilt
Texas Tech beat South Dakota State (higher RPI than Iowa) and Hawaii
Kansas beat Kentucky, Vanderbilt and Oregon State
Iowa State beat Colorado, Cincinnati and Iowa
Baylor beat SF Austin and Vanderbilt

My god he forgot the most impressive nonconference win of the season! We beat the mighty Uthoff's Hawkeyes!

We can go by top 50 wins if you like. Its not even close. ISU has 20 tournament quality teams on their schedule, and has won 6 games against top 50 teams by most metrics. Iowa has beaten only 2 teams in the top 50, that weren't missing half their offense.

I think its something like 4 legit wins in the top 100 for iowa. Those games against MSU and WSU were a joke. Take those resume corrupting outliers out of the equation, and Iowa is likely a bubble team on the outside looking in. Just as they were expected to be and probably should have been.

Do you know how dumb you sound saying that the most true indicator of the quality of a team is how they do in the post season. Your team just lost to Illinois in the post season. We should probably knock the hawks down to below cbt level then. Because Ill and the hawks just proved in post season play that they likely aren't even in the top 150. You're right though, I do put Iowa in the peer group of rutgers and minnesota basketball.

The hawks are a glorified NIT team that inflated their rankings by playing teams missing all-American's and Conference players of the year.

I had a feeling you would take my joke of a post way too seriously. Gave you a chance to prove you aren't a total stick in the mud and you blew it. Good work.
