So I just got a little curious about who was drafted ahead of Steph Curry in the 2009 draft. He went #7 overall; the Timberwolves had the #5 and 6 picks where they took Ricky Rubio and Jonny Flynn. That's gotta be up there with the Trailblazers taking Sam Bowie over Michael Jordan

Has it really been that long since he took Davidson on his back in the tourney? I remember watching him play and wondering why the hell he wasn't at a big six school...
Wow.

Hasheem Thabeet has to be the worst number two pick ever, overall a real solid draft though, several elite guys and value throughout.

Quick redraft:

1. Curry (LAC)
2. Griffin (MEM)
3. Harden (OKC)
4. DeRozan (SAC)
5. Teague? (MIN)

First 3 were easy, after that, it gets difficult.

greg oden is probably the worst first pick ever
I hate to bag on a guy who had physical issues keep his career from ever getting off the ground. I would rather bag on players who never had the talent to be the first pick. Anthony Bennett come on down.

It's tough to say, Oden had the injury issues and a dominate player picked right behind him but he certainly had number one pick talent. Anthony Bennett is probably the worst number one pick but that entire draft was terrible, there was no Durant typ player picked later on.

DeMarre Carroll would be up there too. Lot of good value picks in that draft, Carroll, Taj Gibson late first round. DeJaun Blair, Jodie Meeks, Patrick Beverly, Danny Green, Chase Budinger, Patty Mills all in the second

Yeah, that 5-10ish range could go several different ways. Its crazy.

Anthony Bennett is worse than Oden. Len Bias is worse than Thabeet, in terms of value.

I'm not sure this is true.

Haha I was thinking the same, that Thabeet might have negative value so I looked it up. He has 4.8 win shares for his career, so yes he was slightly more valuable than Bias.

I still to this day have no idea what the NBA seen in Hasheem Thabeet. He was not good in college and showed all he could do was block a few shots here and there. He had no offensive game whatsoever and didn't show any potential. Yet, he was still drafted #2. He IMO, is the worst NBA draft pick of all time, and I thought that the second he was drafted, and I was not wrong.

To be fair, curry had a lot of shortcomings coming out of college. Well undersized and bad ankles. Frankly I'm shocked he went 7th. His level of improvement each year in the NBA has been noting short of amazing.
