If he does retire will he be a first ballot hall of famer? Will his legacy be the "bloody sock" game?

Hall of famer? Absolutely. First ballot? I think that's going to depend on who's on the ballot with him. Considering who all might be eligible in 5 years, I think there's a chance.

My guess is he will be out there more... The question is will people still listen.

Maybe he will end up working for ESPN.

Well do you rate Schilling over Glavine and Smoltz?

He is not rated over R Johnson, Maddux, Rivera, Hoffman, and (gulp) Clemens. It really depends on who is on the ballot with him. I personally think he is lower than Smoltz for sure and probably Glavine as well

On issues where Schilling agrees with me, I find that he speaks very eloquently. On issues where Schilling doesn't agree with me, he sounds like a raving idiot. Go figure...

That would be awful. Might as well ask Paris Hilton her opinion on Global Warming b/c that is what it is like for me to hear Schilling's opinion on everything!!

When he was pitching for the Diamondback in the World Series, he and Randy Johnson had one of the best pitching performances I've ever seen. My that guy had a wicked sinker.

No kidding, I am NOT a big man of Schilling. He seems to point out the faults of everyone else and has "I am better than everyone" attitude.

He was/is a great pitcher and will make the HOF if there is no steriod controversy or something.

He is a HOF'er but I don't know about first ballot.

That's where I will probably disagree with most people. You HOF numbers should be about a career and the criteria should be similar for everyone.

No doubt he was a great big game pitcher. But if you aren't going to let players in with similar numbers because they didn't get the chance to play in the World Series there is something wrong with that system.

Johnson has 288 Wins and 4,686 K's.
Maddux has 350 Wins and 3,299 K's

I agree those are hall of fame numbers that last over the length of a career.

For Schilling to get 288 Wins he would need to average 15 wins for 5 more seasons.
