Re: Iowa MBB definitely not even a #3 seed

When I posted this they were 2 spots apart. And it's also why said a lot can happen from that point on. Well, a lot has definitely happened

Well it's not that shocking. ISU has #1 then anywhere from 1-3 more against Top RPI 25 teams before the NCAA. Their RPI pretty much can't go down and can still potentially go way up.

Iowa has #57, then possibly a sub 100 then maybe a decent team or two.

It's pretty much a done deal that Iowa's RPI is going to be weaker than ISU's, only question is how drastic.

Re: Iowa MBB definitely not even a #4 seed

6 seed territory for Iowa at this point, especially with a loss at Michigan.

Re: Iowa MBB definitely not even a #3 seed

You forgot West Virginia.

I literally can't even keep track of how many teams we've played TWICE with a stronger RPI than Iowa.

Time to ramp up some more stories on ESPN about Iowa being the top team in the state.

Re: Iowa MBB definitely not even a #4 seed

It would be one thing if the media in this state and the Iowa fans hadn't acted like they were the best thing that had ever happened to college basketball for 2 months. Iowa is a good team. Not a great team. If Iowa had to play a ranked team 50% of the time like Iowa State does, they'd probably have 2 or 3 more losses.

Or even if they had just played their actual schedule but with the other team's star players healthy.

How much of all of this was based on beating Michigan State twice around the same time Nebraska walked in and won @MSU? Quite a bit.

Yep. They get credit for beating Purdue (I'm not sure if it was once or twice) and I suppose the second Michigan State win.

Re: Iowa MBB definitely not even a #4 seed

I almost feel sorry for them during this collapse, but then I think about the Hawk poster who came on here and said that Iowa's floor is higher than ISU's ceiling and think no, this seems about right.

the super bowl prediction should have been the first clue.

The Pig year collapse was a 1-7 finish, at 1-5 now. @Mich might keep it going but that first round of the BTT is likely going to be a horrible team...gotta think it snaps there.

They're a team that hasn't performed well in the BTT. It seems like they've lost to Penn St and Northwestern the last few years.

I agree, but I think that year they collapsed and made the play-in game they lost to Northwestern (?) in the first round of the Big 10 tourney.

Re: Iowa MBB definitely not even a #4 seed

Please, if there is a God, give Iowa Kentucky in the 4-5 game.

Indiana shut down Utoff and Jok on Hawk home court and won the game. Go figure. lol
