Pretty deep year for recruiting in Iowa. Lots of kids with D1 offers already, and I'm sure a few more will get offers as well.

We have a commit from Vance & Moore, and we have the following offers out to in state kids.

OL - Kallenberger - Bettendorf
QB - Lombardi - Valley
OL - Newell - Ames
OL - Dykstra - Spirit Lake
OL - Kleinow - IC West
LB - Hummell - Dowling

I love the fact we are targeting more Iowa kids (especially OL). Iowa turns out pretty good OL kids, and we should be getting more of those in state kids.

I have heard from some people I trust that we are close to offering Duwa as well. He just picked up a Minnesota offer, and we want him to come and visit. Don't be surprised to see an offer before he even before he visits. If not before, I'm 99% sure he will get an offer after visiting.

I don't think Lombardi is still a committable offer. Your point stands though, good year for Iowa kids and good to see the staff after them.

Wasn't the Junior Day like last weekend? Or do they hold multiple "days"?

It really is a good year. I really like Hummel. His tape makes him look every bit as good as any we have brought in so far for visits.

Newell and kallenberger look very good form wise. Dykstra looks to have a mean streak. Of we could add the 3 of them it would be pretty awesome. We could end up with 6 iowa kids in this class pretty easily and in no way would that be a bad thing.

I totally agree. I think most years the talent in the state is UNDER rated. This year it seems that the kids are getting the offers they should be.

I personally think Kallenberger is the best of the bunch, he may end up with Oklahoma type offers. Vance will get more offers when his grades get up to snuff, so hopefully the staff got the jump on that and can hold teams off on him. Lombardi would get more offers if he was a LB rather than a QB. Dykstra looks great on film, but I know little else on him. I hope we get 6 of these in state kids, that would be a GREAT haul.

What schools are these kids from?

With the OL Coach of the year on staff and also being the OC we can to head to head with any program in the country for the all important OL kids

Might want to slow your roll here. If we go against the Oklahoma's and Nebraska's of the world, this won't mean anything. Don't get me wrong, we need to throw our hats in the ring, but don't expect to win many of these battles.

I'm going to say no, we can't. That said the caliber of programs that we can beat out for recruits has gotten better, I think. Beating out middling P5 teams rather then FCS teams is a start. We aren't beating out top 10 programs for OL's just yet.

You're showing your age (I'm old too). Nebraska hasn't been in Oklahoma's class for well over a decade. We should have no fear competing against Nebraska or recruiting against them either.

I totally agree, but they still seem to pull in top 25 classes more years than they don't. If we could start beating Nebraska for recruits, it is a very good thing. I know I'm probably in the minority, but the talent level just isn't high enough to win, and hasn't been for 3 years now.

Going to be hard to beat the hoks for OLs...especially eastern Iowa kids. Maybe down the line once the ISU staff has proven something or KF has one foot in retirement. I think that ISU gets Newell, Dykstra and Hummel. Not sure about the others. They can beat the Gophs for Duwa if they offer. But I expect iowa to slow play pretty much everyone while they go whale hunting and think that they can flip whoever they want in January. I'm also guessing that they will be surprised how hard it is to flip ISU commits due to the personality of the ISU staff.

I am just glad we are now competing and getting kids over any power 5 schools. I was so sick of seeing that we beat out utep and mizzou st

I doubt we ever see Vance in an ISU uniform. I hope I'm wrong.

Word is that he's an academic risk, but if he gets his academics in order then Iowa will offer and he will go there for sure if he gets an offer from them. So, he either doesn't make it here because of academics OR he'll end up at Iowa.

It's alarming the linemen from central and western Iowa--we lose to Iowa and other schools. happening for decades
