Suckeyes at Indiana

Yeah, they can only hurt themselves from here on out. Hard to see them getting a 1 unless they manage to back in to one.

If they win out until the last game at Michigan to finish 15-3 in the Big Ten and then win the Big Ten Tournament and finish 27-6 overall they will be a 1 seed. Even if they lose in the BTT final they will be no worse than a 2.

Now drop any games between now and Michigan and all bets are off regardless of what they do in the BTT.

I'm torn. Suckeyes or Fraudkeyes. Both seem fitting.
Didn't you just lose to Texas Tech as a top 15?

Winning the Tournament won't mean anything because the game is played right before the selection announcement. They don't have time to consider that, and the committee has said as much.

It might go the way you lay it out, but it will depend a lot on what others do. Like I said, back in to a one seed, not really earn it through impressive wins.

Not a bad loss for the Hawks, though I think they are the better team. I thought for sure they had it when they came back from being down big to take the lead. Still, losing your last two tough games in a relatively weak schedule doesn't scream 1 seed to me.

Turn in your mod badge, do they really need any help repeating their mantra?

Perfectly said. Though I'm not sure any team deserves a 1 seed this year. I think Iowa would be better off on the 2 or 3 line actually.

I keep hearing you guys say this. Is this like when the Hawk fans kept saying that they did not want to go to the football playoff and preferred the Rose Bowl?

Considering those games were played at Maryland and at Indiana, they aren't bad losses by any means. Sure, I think Iowa is better than Indiana but they have a great home court advantage. Maryland hasn't lost at home in like 3 years. Iowa's got 5 losses on the year, none at home, and their 3 true road losses are ISU, Maryland and IU. Probably 3 of the top 10 most difficult venues to play in for opposing teams.

They lost at home last year to Virginia. The year before that they lost 4 games at home

Probably should rephrase it to it wouldn't bother me at all if they were a #2 or a #3. Would obviously take a #1 if they deserve it.

It's because they know that the team is not as good as their ranking, plain and simple. No #1 seed has ever lost, if you team is really that good, you want a #1 seed. Numbers say you are guaranteed to move on to the next round. Now, if you believe, like some do on here, that this team has somehow blindly falling into their ranking and are not deserving of it, yeah, you are scared as hell of a #1 seed and the first in history to go down to a 16.

What I really don't understand is hoping for a 2 or especially a 3 seed over a 1. 2s and 3s are losing a little more regularly now and if you really don't think your team is deserving, why would you want to play a significantly stronger first round opponent?

So yeah, it's just like the football situation. Even though they are all running around puffing out their chests, they know, deep down they are a bit of a paper tiger. And since they are going to lose first round (or 2nd, whatever they call it now) anyways, might as well lose as a 2 or 3 and not be the first #1.

I will say this though, the way this year has gone, I really don't believe any #1 is truly going to be safe this year. Maybe OU, but other than that, there seems to be a lot of teams out there that if they come out flat, no matter what their seed is, they are going down. I just don't see any great teams out there that really stand out as a complete dominating unit. the parity in college basketball is pretty amazing this year.

Iowa is a contender this year to go to the final four. This is a good to great team. But in any other year of college bball I would just hope this team could somehow piece it together to get to the Sweet 16. But this year is a different story. This year, this team could seriously go to the Final Four.

Iowa's lack of depth is going to kill them come tourney time IMO. They're either going to have to leave their starters in the whole game and they'll get gassed or lose because the big drop off when they have to go to the bench

Indiana has a great home court advantage? Interesting. Where was it last night? It was extremely quiet last night.
