Cooke Suspended Today

Might be a blessing in disguise. Might actually force Prohm to play Carter or Ashton a few minutes. Gasp! They might actually make the most of it and show CSP that hey we can play a few minutes...it's ok..the world won't come crashing down.
Bingo.
Ashton comes in today and goes 5/6 from 3 and has 4 steals.

Word has been for awhile that Jordan Ashton wasn't far behind Hallice Cooke on the depth chart. Imagine he'll get an opportunity today.

If this was true, why weren't we playing him before? 90% of our defensive issues are due to lack of depth. We get tired from playing too many minutes and we get lazy on defense. If we had a chance to play 8 deep with Ashton, why didn't we? Niang and Morris are going to say they can play all game, but they are too close to the issue to see that they are tired.

I have to give you credit for your eternal optimism. Niang could get arrested for murder and you'd find the positive spin somehow.

If Ashton is able to come in and spell Niang and McKay, then yes, this is a WTF. But Ashton is behind Cooke on the depth chart, which means he'd come in and spell Morris, Thomas, and Cooke. Means even with Ashton playing we're still up Schitt's Creek without a paddle in regards to defense because we're still forced into Niang and McKay playing passively to prevent fouling.

Quickly turning into a dumpster fire. We will see if the seniors are the real deal or pretenders. Time to lead and turn this around.

as someone who has been to practices and who sees these guys practice, if Carter starts getting significant minutes, it is not good and we are most likely at that time a bubble team. I shared in a thread in October my insights and said Cooke would be a disappointment (some of you need to start reading in between the lines) and that Burton was going to be Big 12 newcomer of the year and that Carter would not be getting any minutes this year. I know your trying to look at the Bright side of things but You guys need to let the Carter thing go, he's just not ready.

Maybe we could try going small once in a while like we did before McKay was eligible. Might be okay for spurts. (Not today though.)

Next man up. Hope Ashton shows something and we can go 8 deep at times the rest of the way.

I hope it goes your way, but there is a better chance that they will show you the reason why they are usually on the bench.
