Desmond King wins Thorpe award

These guys have him going #11 overall. Obviously it's still very early but if all indications point to him being taken that high, he'll go, as would anybody.
I definitely don't see him going THAT high. Right now, I'd be inclined to agree with HawkeyeGameFilm, who thinks he could sneak into the first round, but more likely a 2nd/3rd round pick. The measurables will likely keep him from being a first rounder. If he had Richard Sherman's size, I'd say he's a first round lock; King is very similar in almost every other way, but Sherman makes up for the lack of speed with outstanding length. King doesn't.
Coming straight from HawkeyeGameFilm (who actually is an NFL scout) when I asked him to compare King to Sherman: "Physically pretty different, but ball skills & instincts are cross-sections; King has hips to line up over slot too."
So uh, yeah, I pretty much nailed that. Overall, King's game is very similar to Sherman's, he just doesn't have Sherman's frame. And he's got the hip fluidity to be successful at corner.
So both are good at cornerback. Damn. I need more of this excellent scouting. Just spot on.
Monte Morris is very similar to Kevin Durant besides they're physically pretty different

King had a great season, no question, but he should go to the NFL and paid at the first chance he gets if he's being called a first rounder before anyone really digs into his numbers this season.
Is he an NFL caliber defender? No question, yes
Did he have a statisically great season? No question, yes
Did Iowa play any great offenses? Maybe one (Indiana was the only school in the top 35 in total offense)
Did Iowa play any great quarterbacks? Maybe one (Cook)
Was the best quarterback Iowa played playing with a serious shoulder injury? Yes
