Iowa needs to have someone step up to claim the role of closer. They look scared at the end of games. ISU has many closers fortunately. If someone consistently claims that role for the Hawks, they can do some damage.

Exactly. Monte, Georges, and Naz are proven closers. And I wouldn't hesitate to let Nader or Matt take a shot on a given night. Jok seems to have the attitude, but they don't seem to want to give him the ball. Uthoff was clearly hesitant in the 2nd half after he (finally) missed a few shots.
There is a reason the spread was 5.5 when it first came out. The difference between these two teams is not as much as you think.

I've said it before, but I've never seen someone so good as Uthoff that is absolutely terrified to have the ball in his hands the last five minutes of a game. Whatever the opposite of a killer instinct is, that's what he's got.

I think Iowa is prob a top 25 team. They will live and die off Jok and Uthoff 3's all year though. No one else outside those two are real threats offensively...no one. But those two could carry them a ways. BIG outside of 3-4 teams is incredibly average to bad to horrid. Iowa has a legit shot at finishing in top 3-4 in conf so long as those two are on. What makes Isu a better team and a Top 10 team IMO is any one of Naing, McKay, Naz, Morris, or Nader can go off on any given night..and MT for that matter. McKay is prob least likely beciase he doesn't shoot threes. But this Isu team..as out of sync as they were for about 25 minutes tonight can be a great team if they focus.

I don't know whether Iowa is a top 20 team or not. What I do know is ISU is the #4/#2 team in the nation, so ISU has a gigantic target on its back. Add in the fact that a lot of people think ISU doesn't deserve that ranking and they have a target with blinking LED lights on their backs. The bottom line is we're going to get everyone's best shot every evening. Add in the fact that it's a decent Iowa team, upset about Niang has trolled them the last several years, definitely of the opinion we're overrated, and out on a mission not just to prove they're a legitimate team but wanting to take out it's biggest rival, well, tonight was a perfect storm for what happened.
I guess I don't understand why people don't think they deserve that rank. Who below them does?
Iowa played like a team that had nothing to lose an uthoff couldn't miss. Agree think iowa is a pretty good team
Have to give credit where credit is due. Every player on their team, and their coach, was respectful and complimentary of our team before and after the game. I saw a few postgame interviews and was impressed, as that had to be very, very tough.
