Potential transfers (Rohach to transfer)

Yeah from everything I have heard I do not want to bank on De Lira as the backup next season. Would be one play away from a disaster season.

Re: Potential transfers

chances he ends up at Houston?

Wouldn't that be something if he went there and lit it up for Tom Hermann. Would be a big kick to the groin for me, as I've always wanted to give that kid his shot. I always thought he had more talent than QBSR.

Thanks Grant, enjoyed watching you play! Good luck where you land, am sure that team will benefit!

Good luck, Grant. Wouldn't be surprised if you tear it up at another program to make us look stupid.

Part of me can't help but wonder how hard Campbell fought to keep him...

Tommy Birch tweeted that he told Rhoads and Sturdy few weeks ago about transferring a few weeks ago, so I doubt Campbell could have changed his mind unless Rohach had a legitimate shot at starting.

I'll always enjoy Rohach's come from behind win at WVU 2 years ago. Best of luck.

Re: Potential transfers

He didn't even start on his high school football team

Wasn't he suspended at the beginning of the season? After that, I think he split time with Charlie Brewer who is supposed to be pretty good. As far as I know, Delira played the majority of the time after coming back from suspension. Not saying he will turn out to be good or bad for us or anyone else if he decides to leave. Just wanted to clarify since your comment makes it sound like he's a total scrub.

Good luck to Grant. Assuming he is immediately eligible either because of coaching change or grad student status.

Rohach must be graduating to be able to play right away. He is a redshirt junior right? Also he told Sturdy and Rhoads he was transferring prior to Rhoads getting fired. So this was happening anyway

Re: Potential transfers

Good luck to Grant. Never understood why he did not get a better shot at the job, but Mangino obviously had some talent scouting issues.

That's on the short list of Mangino's problems, but certainly not his greatest.

Best of luck Grant. Represented ISU with class. #foreverone

He did battle Richardson for the starting job last year and lost, then lost to Lanning in the backup battle this year.

Crazy thing is I think he would have been a better fit for Mangino this year, since he was a better passer than Sam and Mangino didn't want to let Sam run which is what made him good.

I always wondered why Rohach didn't transfer last year, but this explains it. No reason to transfer and sit out a year when you were on track to graduate early and could just transfer and play right away somewhere else. Also probably easier to finish up your undergrad at one school before transferring. Best of luck to him. Wish we would have him as the backup QB next year, but can't blame him at all.

That was the most inexpicable thing every. Was Sam injury prone? Sure he was, but we had Rohach and Lanning sitting on the bench, so even if Sam did get hurt, it wasn't going to be a disaster. That was probably my biggest Mangino gripe. I could see it if Sam was playing like a Heisman winner, but the gap between starter and backups was pretty minimal.

Kudos to Grant Rohach. Did things the right way. Graduated. And now he can pursue his last year wherever he wants.
