Iowa State, Ohio schedule home/home series; 2022 at ISU, 2023 at Ohio

The mid-major home-and-home scheduling is not going anywhere.

We can now expect these games along with an FCS team at home and the Cy-Hawk series every year:

2016: San Jose State
2017: @ Akron
2018: Akron
2019: Louisiana-Monroe
2020: UNLV
2021: @ UNLV
2022: Ohio
2023: @ Ohio
2024: Arkansas State
2025: @ Arkansas State

2019 seems unique as an odd-numbered year with a home game agains a mid-major, but that could be a typo on this website and it may be an away game.

Looks like they have a few years to become an elite MAC program before we play them

Makes sense. Matt Campbell tapping recruiting grounds.

I don't think he had anything to do with it. I'm assuming that it takes longer than a couple days to negotiate it and I'll also assume Campbell hasn't given one thought to who is on ISU's schedule in 2022.

It's kind of a cool coincidence that Iowa State plays at Akron in 2017. It's 30 miles from Matt Campbell's home town of Massillon. He should have a lot of family and friends there.

We're not doing a home and home with San Jose State?

It was scheduled as one but the game at SJSU was cancelled.

Two previously scheduled 2017 games are no longer on SJSU's schedule. The Spartans were slated to host both Iowa State and Colorado. The Iowa State game in San Jose was cancelled while keeping the road game on the schedule, but the entire series with Colorado was aborted.

I don't really get that ULM game in 2019 though; our pattern is clearly road games for our 3rd non-con in odd-numbered years when Iowa is in Ames, and it doesn't appear that there's a return game scheduled. Anybody know about that?

Gonna be an interesting schedule if the No-FCS thing ever comes down from the conference.

I don't get playing a home and home. But okay. Especially against Ohio types. They aren't horrible. At least pick the worst teams from the MAC.

Guess we will have Akron scouted.

Id rather play a home and home with Illinois/Indiana/Purdue/Nebraska/Maryland/Minnesota. Not much different.

Whether Campbell had anything to do with this or not, he will definitely use it to his advantage when recruiting kids from Ohio.
