I spent some time on the Illinois message board and pulled some of the more entertaining post. Enjoy.

Biggest difference is they have Morris.

Definitely a half to be proud of.
We are down 1 point at half to a team that could be a #1 seed in the tournament.

Looking very good. Maybe their best performance this year, which is good since this is the best team we've faced all year.

Keep it tight until the end, and put ISU in a situation they aren't really familiar with this season. Colorado only lost by 6 but they don't have the same shooters we have. Put some panic in 'em boys!

That didn't work out!

Is the high pitched screaming of an Iowa St fan annoying the hell out of anyone else?

See how they give the balls to their 2 best players?

I'm impressed with Iowa States on ball pressure in the second half. Illini players aren't comfortable playing with a defender up on them like that. They need to get better at offensive flow and moving the ball against pressure like this. This is good for the Illini, I wish they won, but if they can learn from this game, it will help them immensely during B1G play.

This game should be a real lesson for these kids. Illinois was hanging tough for a long, long time, ISU took a timeout, made adjustments, but most of all decided they were going to take control of the game and did. That's what strong teams do, and they did it. Time for Illinois to take on that mindset.

I think the most overlooked factor this season is that by the end of preseason, we will have gone against three of the best pgs in the country, between Dunn, Jackson and Morris. We will not face pgs like this in the big season

That's pretty tame for message board-type stuff. No complaints.

Also, it's worth noting that Illinois played a hell of a game for most of the time. They just couldn't close out in the end. That team looked very talented and very organized against us.

And yes, the high-pitched screaming or whistling or whatever the hell that was annoyed us all.

I thought Illinois was a well coached team. Considering they just added three pieces back this week they could be expected to have some rough spots. I think they will make some noise in the B1G.

It would've been a much different game had Thorn been able to come back that's for sure. If Illinois is able to stay healthy they should be able to cause some trouble in the B1G this winter

Agree with the points...sat next to a long-time Illinois fan and he said it will be fun to see their young guys develop (3 starters were Freshmen). And yes, it was a loss when their big went down at the end of the first half. They can certainly hit the three, although that was where the youngsters had issues when they tried to rush the shots when they fell behind. Fun team...will make some noise in the BIG.

Was just coming in to post this. If Thorne had played the whole game I think it would have been trouble for us. Jameel would have had to play a lot more and it was obvious he was struggling offensively and with guarding Thorne.

I'd say this post from Illini fan is 50x more intelligent than from a Hawkeye men's basketball fan-- who are some of the dumbest on earth

Its fun to read opposing teams boards and seeing the respect. Fun seeing people call us elite and words like that. Also fun to be happy we're on the opposite side of things now

Unfortunately, my grandson and I sat right in front of the screamer, about half way thru the first half, my 12 year old grandson asked me if it was alright to turn around and tell her to shut-up. I told him no, but I almost did it myself! She had a passion for telling the refs how to do their jobs, I should of suggested she move to the front row so the refs would be able to hear her.

It was very interesting that after the lob dunk by Nadar it was like George and Monty decided to take over the game and they did and we pulled away. It was fun to watch.

In person Illinois looked very good when that big center was in the game. He stays healthy they will cause real problems for Big 10 teams.
