Based upon past practice, Jamie Pollard has not let too much time pass in the hiring of a new coach. The over/under is two weeks (December 6, 2015) due to Paul Rhoads coaching the last game.

Dan McCarney Fired 11/08/2006
Gene Chizek Hired 11/27/2006
19 days

Wayne Morgan Fired 3/17/2006
Greg McDermott Hired 3/22/2006
5 days

Gene Chizik Leaves 12/15/2008
Paul Rhoads Hired 12/20/2008
5 days

Greg McDermott Leaves 4/26/2010
Fred Hoiberg Hired 4/27/2010
1 day

Paul Rhoads Fired

Let's not forget a rather important coaching change on Pollard's watch...

Fred Hoiberg Leaves 6/2/2015
Steve Prohm Hired 6/8/2015
6 days
(preceded by the help of a staffing agency several weeks prior to Hoiberg's departure)

This one may take a little longer since all of our candidates are still playing games. I'd guess under but barely. Likely the Sunday or Monday after the last games are played.

Would appear the longer he takes, the worse the hire.

I expect an announcement this afternoon.

The over. It's going to take some time for the coaching landscape to settle with all the openings. Agents are going to take full advantage and squeeze and leverage schools against each other. Unless of course Pollard and Leath know who they want and decide to break the bank to get that candidate early.

I just get the feeling that the administration knows exactly who they want already. Getting it done is the issue now. Under, by two days.

I am going under, based on past performance as well as the fact that JP has probably had a list in his pocket for 2 years or so...

Could be. But knowing who they want is only the first part. They still need to give that candidate a Godfather offer, and who knows if they'll be willing to do that and risk overpaying for someone. Personally I think that would be a mistake...if they know who they want then make a big splash offer and get him. But you never know.

It's a holiday week and weekend and that throws things off a bit. It will likely be next week. If it goes past next week I'd say JP didn't get his man and now looking at fall backs.

Whatever realistic number you say, I'll take the under.

No way he's paying $3M like Memphis and Houston. That's sad but probably true.

It's different at Memphis...the Billionaire owner of Fed Ex basically owns Memphis. Him giving a couple million to save wha it's a great coach for them is like me giving my neighbor $5. Literally. Houston is similar in that they have all those oil tycoons. Have a feeling these schools decided to up the contract knowing their coaches are hot commodities and thus raising the buyout coming their way.

It doesn't matter where the school gets the money or who is paying it. It still makes an impact on the standard. We need to pay at LEAST 3.5 to 4 million.

People get upset when a guy like the Fred "abandon" Iowa State to follow his dreams. Yet we push out a guy who was 100 percent loyal to Cyclone Nation because he didn't win enough games. If we really want to take this program to the next level we need to make a good hire and make a statement with our wallet that we are not F#($ing around.

CW stated that Les Miles is out of the question. Now I am not saying that is who we go after. But we need to make a someone who normally wouldnt look at Iowa State look at Iowa State with our wallet. Kinda like Orr
