Some coaches who might looking for assistant jobs elsewhere are the current Missouri staff. There are some good assistants on that staff and with the turmoil at Missouri I wouldn't be surprised if they are ready to leave. Kuligowski has sent several defensive linemen to the NFL and Andy Hill is a long time assistant and has done well recruiting the Kansas City area. Cornell Ford has recruited the St Louis area for years. Barry Odom could get promoted to HC but if not he is a solid DC.
There is a chance Missouri will simply keep the same staff but if not they would add a recruiting presence in a couple of regional large metropolitan areas to the Iowa State staff.

If you want a guy to change the culture hire Reese Morgan from Iowa's Staff. Their is a reason what ever position group he works with is gold. He turned around some of the most losing programs in Iowa Highschools and turned them into dominant state champions. Having played for him I think he is a big part of Ferentz's success.
I know it is only a small sample of anecdotal evidence, but I know several early-career coaches that are/have been at Minn., UI, Nebby, USC and Vandy. When I ask about criteria candidates use for selecting jobs, there are a few key things they agree on.
- No matter what anyone says, salary is the top criteria almost every time, and usually far and away the most important criteria. There are exceptions, but they all think some surprising candidates would take jobs at lesser programs if the price was right
- local talent pool is overrated. Most think if they have enough resources in assistants and recruiting travel their own geographical recruiting connections can overcome lack of local talent
Missouri will look for a bigger name and possibly/probably a black coach. Be glad Iowa State doesn't have Missouri's current problems. Donors and season ticket holders are in open revolt. Fritz would be an interesting hire for Iowa State.

I would love this hire. He has the OL pedigree, NFL experience and knows how to run the style of offense we want. He knows Iowa and how and who to recruit to Iowa State. I think he could put a nice staff together and I would really love to see Sage or Seneca on that staff. A solid NFL pedigree from the coaching staff can help attract better talent and assist with player development.

Guys like Bill Bellichick and Pete Carrol among several other good coaches have been fired before.
As an ISU alum with from Nebraska with latent Husker fandom, please let me also say no this would not be a good idea. If you are upset about Rhoads' end-of-game coaching errors, Pelini just got two 15-yd sideline penalties in the last 30 seconds of a 27-24 loss to NDSU. The refs stopped the game to go make sure the police were on standby for their departure from the field.
Yes, the PI penalty was bogus, and yes, he sticks up for his players, but in all the wrong ways. Not just the surly press conferences and spittle on the slo-mo replay, but he creates this paranoid "bunker mentality" for the players, that the fans are out to get them, etc. He may be a DC again, but I don't think he will be a HC any time soon. Also think JP and Prez Leath are way too concerned about nice guy brand for that.

Good established dual threat QB and young RB and some wideouts as well.
Better job than people think particularly since ISU isn't Mizzou and doesn't have their issues.
Lot of guys can step in and win 6-7 games. Can't overthink this hire though got to take the best guy available. Can't let ego get in the way and settle for a lesser coach because your best option wanted Miami and almost got it but settled for ISU.
