Not sure if anyone has posted this yet but the word is Bo Pelini is in Ames tonight
Kent Cole @kentncole
Swear to god i just saw Bo Pelini at Hy-vee Gas in Ames
If you want a guy to change the culture hire Reese Morgan from Iowa's Staff. Their is a reason what ever position group he works with is gold. He turned around some of the most losing programs in Iowa Highschools and turned them into dominant state champions. Having played for him I think he is a big part of Ferentz's success. Not to be argumentative, but the change of culture has to start with moving on and not worrying about things you can't control. I would argue that the disadvantages ISU has sneak into the conversation at all levels way too often. TV commentators talk about it all the time, writers write about it because it comes up in the conversation. Not once yesterday did I hear the TV guys say what a challenge it was to get players to Manhattan, KS.
I know it is only a small sample of anecdotal evidence, but I know several early-career coaches that are/have been at Minn., UI, Nebby, USC and Vandy. When I ask about criteria candidates use for selecting jobs, there are a few key things they agree on.yes. But it also means that the candidates will have more choices. If Illinois offers 2 million and Iowa state offers 2.5 million, 75% of coaches would take the job they think leads to more wins. And that's Illinois.
If the University of Missouri doesn't sign up native son Willie Fritz, then I certainly hope that we would (particularly if his OC comes as part of the package).
SERIOUSLY? This guy doesn't fit our culture Pollard.
Can you imagine the fits he would throw on an ISU sideline?! Or, after a BS review that, again, doesn't go our way?!
Not fitting ISU FB culture isn't the worst thing that could happen
Brian Ferentz....Spent time with The Hoodie in New England, coaches one of the best O-Lines in the country right now. And it would make for one hell of a story line for CyHawk week.

SIAP but why not Bo Pelini? I know he's not super popular but the man got results. Is it the whole "has to be a midwestern type of guy" aka "nice"?
That's what I was referring too but i remember the players for Bo being outraged when he was fired... Just playing devil's advocate here as I have no personal knowledge of the situation. He does get points for embracing the cat memes. Name another D1 coach with that on his resume!
I'd like to see Gunter Brewer from UNC get an interview.
Coached Moss at Marshall, Blackmon and Bryant at Okie st. His offenses have finished top 10 regularly and this year at UNC is no exception.

I'll throw Hue Jackson and Adam Gase into the fray
Iowa State has a lot of young experienced talent, great fan support, great new facilities, and the third biggest stadium in the Big12. A lot of coaches would choose that. It's not the rebuild many people think... Several pieces are already in place.
