Very different IMO. First of all everything is completely different compared to the spread and you only get one week to prep for it. How many teams in the Big 12 run some variation of the spread? Most of them do.
Big 12 defenses are built to stop a more finesse type game, the spread would be a lot more power. Those hybrid nickel/lb guys would (should) be destroyed with that scheme.
For the most part Big 12 DL's are smaller and quicker, depending on how things go, could be tough for them to handle all those runs destroying them throughout the game.
I am not saying go with the option for sure though.

Better have about 10 QB's and 10 RB's lined up ready to play on any given week because I think the TO would get eaten alive in the Big 12. There's a reason why it's gone the way of the dinosaurs pretty much, defenses became far too athletic and fast for it to work.
YOu may have a point but then again it is naive to suggest college football is the same game/business/etc today as it was during those past coaching regimes. The optimist in my is choosing to believe it is a new day.
I'm guessing Fleck will prefer the Illinois job if he has his choice between us or Illinois. Much better recruiting territory and his home state.

Baylor, Okie State, Oklahomas, and for the most part Kstates Dlines are not small. They are very large, and very fast.
The crappy teams yes have small d lines.
Not a sexy pick but I think Todd sturdy might be a good option and here's why. We could get him cheap and with a shorter contract. Players seem to like him and we would have a shot keeping all the young talent that this team does have. The roster is actually set up good for the future. Getting a whole new system could cause us to waste a talent like lanning. I honestly think the best offense we could run is what we were doing the last couple of weeks. We didn't win but it is easy to forget that we should have beat the number 5 ranked team and KSU on the road in back to back weeks because of the offense we were running....now proceed to say I am crazy...
