Excited for next year

OP, I don't think you have an appreciation for the coaching ineptitude required to pull off the last 1:26 of that ball game. That is a special kind of bad.

Reasons like this and games like today are why its so stupid for ISU fans to say crap like ISU would compete in the B1G. ISU pisses games away as it is that are gift wrapped.

Good well thought out counter-argument. I can't find fault in anything you said. I guess I'm still jaded with taking "the next big step" with Chizik.

Serious question. In the future, if we had a chance to hire a Frank Broyles Award (top asst. Coach) winner again, do you think we should consider doing it? My answer is yes. Chances are, you're getting a guy like Tom Herman who has worked for a really good coach and has absorbed a lot of good knowledge. Just because Chizik was an ***, doesn't mean it's a bad idea.

Player mistakes have cost ISU the Toledo and KSU games directly. If guys execute we win those games.

However, the coaching staff has made serious blunders.
- At Toledo we run aplay that doesn't center the ball for Netton
- Against OSU the coaching staff isn't aware of the correct down. When the realize it's 3rd down they go with the play instead of calling a TO.
- Against KSU we fail to take a knee to run the clock down to 10-15 seconds max.

On top of that, on our second possession in the 2nd half we don't have the chance of kicking a FG with first down at the KSU 30. No excuse as 3 points would have been huge at that point.

Tale of 2 halves this season

Come out like gangbusters vs Iowa, Okie State, K-State

No adjustments at halftime

Rhoads/Sturdy start 3rd quarter conservative as hell and opposition OWNS the 3rd and 4th QTRS

ISU players get down on themselves early in 2nd half and never recover

This game was as bad as p#ssing away the Big 12 North in 2004 and 2005. I was beyond angry then. Now, I'm mad for only a couple hours and am resigned to the fact we're IOWA STATE

We have years of players making enough basic football mistakes to know what the real issue is. When players consistently do not make the needed simple/fundamental football plays required to win, you have fundamental coaching problems (in other words a bad HC).

Rhoads is a good motivator, not a good head coach.
