OU would roll the hawkeyes

And yet, I would trade places in a heartbeat. It sucks, because the talent gap between our teams in minimal, but they finish games (albeit against much weaker competition), and we can't.
Regarding the talent gap, I don't think this is true. Just googled, and Iowa has 40 players in the NFL and we have 14. I think what is interesting is that the ratings of the players they recruit is not that much different than ours. Would be nice to know if this is a result of evaluation of recruits or development of the players while in the respective programs. Which ever or even if it is a little of both it would be nice to improve in these areas.

I'm talking this year's teams. The teams are not 7 wins different, talent-wise.

I will give Iowa this.... they are MUCH, MUCH better at developing players than we are. They are much more fundamentally sound by the time they are ready to contribute. Our guys seem to regress.

Definitely both - you will have a hard time finding a school that takes 2 and 3 star players and develops them better. It is also about finding the diamonds in the rough (aka King this year)

I really think the development aspect is important. Just does not seem to be there. It also not as though the last coaching staffs other Cheesdick's short stay, were not long enough to develop players.

Sorry to be argumentative but after watching that Minnesota game, I would not be surprised if several of the OL of Iowa play in the NFL. Probably one of their TEs, maybe the corner King and probably Beatherd. Also thought their LBs looked good.
Seemed to me their blocking schemes were more complex than I had given them credit for.

Because of their performance against a 4-5 team whose defense wasn't even at full strength?

We certainly give our coaches a long enough time to bring in players to develop, off the top of my head, DM was her at least 10 yrs and CPR is in year 7? Would like to see the new staff(whenever that is), take the long road with 4 yr players and only reluctantly goe to JUCO for an occasional need.

Against a team that has had injuries all year and lost the last two weeks to OSU by 28-14 and Michigan on the last play of the game. Probably wrong but I thought Minnesota looked pretty solid. ESP liked how physical their DBS were and liked the play calling by their OC. To digress, I enjoy watching football where the outcome does not determine my mood depending on the outcome. Also recorded the Stanford/Oregon game and flipped back and forth to OU/Bay. One thing I came away from is that it seems as though there have been more evenly matched teams and games this year than in awhile. Did not watch but it appears that TCU had a bit of a problem w KU.

I agree with a lot of what you've said, but I stand by my original comment. The talent gap is not that large between the 2 teams. That is what is frustrating.
Do I think we would be undefeated with their schedule? Absolutely not.

There is a difference in talent, yes. But the perception of us being terrible and them being the #5 team in the nation comes solely from the teams we are playing against.

Back to the OP.
OU lost to Texas, b/c OU has trouble beating anybody they can't dominate on the ground. Iowa has a very solid front 7 and would actually match up well with OU. Once again they lost to Texas who ****in sucks.
Iowa may have a soft schedule but they have actually beat everyone they played.

I have heard multiple people say they are have 3 NFL's starting on their line - another stat for the past 16 years Iowa has had a 1st round draft pick starting on the OL.
King will make it to the NFL, CJ? a very good college qb, just don't see it in the nfl - maybe a back up type journey man guy for a few years. Drew Ott - defiitely
