Not Enough for the Haters

I'm sticking with CPR, his staff and more importantly his players Till The Day I Die. OU has killed every team since the Texas upset. I didn't expect a victory, but I carried optimism from last week into this game. Disappointed? Sure. Have I lost hope? Heck No! Am I a happy loser? Maybe so. But I will not hate on my Cyclones. Granted, I'm not a donor and don't have skins in the game. Irregardless, the throw away culture of today is disturbing. I will not succumb to this mentality. Why? Because I believe in Loyal Sons for Ever True.

It's obvious we've seen the best Rhoads has to offer, and it's just not good enuff.
As far as a throw away culture, why throw away a fan base's loyalty and the players hopes? Rhoads has had more than enuff time. Its not disloyal to want more.

So would you give CPR a lifetime contract? If you say no you must be part of the throw away culture.

Also, irregardless isn't really a word.

7 years, 1 winning record = throw away mentality?

He has to win 2 more games IMO to keep his job. I don't see ISU winning another game though.

I always picture the authors of posts like these as someone who often sits at home on the davenport, sipping a warm double mocha pumpkin spice caramel latte (soy milk please), wearing their favorite sweater vest and khaki pants, reading CF and saying to themselves, "hmmm, what is the quaintest way I can share my thoughts?"

"I believe in loyal sons forever true"? Holy smokes Nancy, you are a better fan than everybody here!

IMO, JP has a critical decision to make after this season is over. Fire Rhoads or not? His job will likely depend on if his decision works or not?

Here's his dilemma.... there actually is quite a bit of good young talent on this team. Lots of sophs and freshmen. Would it be best for them to keep some continuity and stability going, or to bring in a whole new coaching staff and risk losing some of this talent to transfers or at minimum waste their final couple years of eligibility while we completely rebuild again?

Personally I'm leaning towards getting rid of Rhoads and cleaning house and hoping that the new staff can turn things around quick and not take years to rebuild. Only because I haven't seen enough change in this program, so why should I expect to ever see it happen?

After last week I thought our defense was finally looking halfway decent, and then last night it went right back to the defense of last year that gave up 70+ pts to Baylor and OU. They can't tackle, they can't cover anyone, etc, etc, etc. Just VERY poor fundamentals. That is on coaching.

I just think it's time for a coaching change. We need a new direction. This one has gotten very stale and shows no signs of turning it around IMO.

Hater.

Whether or not CPR is here next year is more about the other job openings, we will be 8th or 9th in the pecking order at best. Would it be worth it to get rid of CPR and just bring in anyone? Dominoes are falling in to place that are going to keep CPR here for at least another year. Honestly, I would love to bring a new coach but who would it be? All the good prospects will be courted by the USC's, Miami, va tech etc...seems we'd be left really reaching towards an up and comer or get stuck with a guy who has been fired from a p5 job.

Everybody who has posted in this thread is bad and should feel bad. I kinda hate all of you.

No

Need to see who's available... hopefully Pollard has a list in his desk drawer.

Definitely lean to the up and comer with an offensive pedigree. Not so much the wide open Kingsbury model, but someone who can develop a good O line that can impose its will. That was the problem last night. OU owned us with a four man front. There's no reason ISU can't have good line play.

If we hadn't beat a HORRIBLE Texas team, there wouldn't be many people still in the "keep him" camp. CPR is lucky we played them in that spot.

The problem with CPR is that in his 7th year now...........ISU is still not close to being competitive against over half of the league. Honestly, ISU has no chance against Baylor, Tech, Oklahoma, Okie State or TCU and that is not going to improve in the forseeable future with CPR because those coaches are not likely going anywhere. So, ISU has a chance to win maybe 4 games per year in conference, and let's face it.......this year, Texas is down, and the games against WVU and K-State are going to be really iffy despite neither of them being very good. Thank God for Kansas football, huh?

Personally, I don't care at this point that ISU is not winning the Big 12........but I do care that after 7 years ISU is still getting embarrassed by the competition in conference and know that with the exception of Kansas, the other conference teams are marking ISU down as a win when they look at their schedule each year. Hell, Kansas probably marks it down as their best chance for a conference win. Plus, to make this even worse, I see no recruits or adjustments on the horizon that make me think it is going to improve under CPR. I think that anyone that does see the possibility for improvement is just delusional, and should seek some professional help of some sort.

He's had his chance people. Nice guy.......but you know what they say about nice guys, right?

Texas lost by one point to Cal. Lost by 3 points to undefeated Oklahoma State. Got beat by TCU and Notre Dame. And of course to ISU in kind of an outlier game. They beat an excellent Oklahoma team and handily beat their other 3 opponents.

IMO, Texas is not a bad team. They just aren't a powerhouse Texas team like they have had in the past.

This continual diatribe that Texas is a "terrible" team is completely. Save the word "terrible" for Kansas and the majority of the teams in the Big Ten West Division.

Worst Texas team since the late 90's

When have we though? Even in the years we have been decent we avoided playing the good teams. The 9-3 team avoided OU, Texas and TT and still got killed by KSU (56-10) and A&M (30-7). People act like this is a CPR problem when in fact it has been an ISU Football problem since the beginning.

I agree with you. But at what point do you see what else you can do?
