Dear America - Iowa Doesn't Care What You Think

I think most are pretty happy with a #9 ranking from the committee. I know I am after thinking Iowa would be struggling to make a bowl game this year.

Also, did you really like your own post?

I think you are wrong. You may be one of the sane ones that has the ability to see their run for what it's worth and be happy about it, but there are a lot of hawk fans that feel disrespected by the #9 ranking, especially with the #4 ranking of 1 loss Alabama and Notre Dame.

And maybe even they are "ok" with the ranking right now, they won't when teams like Stanford, Florida, or Okie St keep winning and jump over Iowa, even if they stay undefeated.

And to take it back a few pages, I don't think Stanford is a top 10 team, but they do keep winning. They played USC when USC was a dumpster fire. The only reason they won last week is because the other team missed a game winning field goal. But, luckily for them, they do have to play some legit teams the rest of the season, so they have the chance to prove me wrong. Unlike Iowa.

Back to the original article, the title makes me LOL "Dear America - Iowa Doesn't Care What You Think"

Should be "DEAR AMERICA - IOWA DOESN'T CARE WHAT YOU THINK...BUT OUR FANS SURE DO!"

1) No.. I don't think so. Are Iowa fans on a message board going to debate Iowa's place in the rankings? Sure, that what message boards are for. Are they upset the criteria used by the committee seems to change more than the weather? Of course. But are they not "happy (my exact quote)" with at top 10 ranking and being in the discussion of the college football playoff? Someone must be living in a different world than I am if they think that.

2) So if Iowa plays tOSU or MSU in the B10 Championship Game, they still wouldn't have a chance to impress you? Even by playing the defending National Champion? Tough crowd.

And the guy that penned said article has gone on to write another rant about disrespect and had about 3 podcasts filled with trying to counteract the injustice that has been done to the fighting hoks this season by the hateful media and cfb gen pop. Lol.

Yikes... you sure follow Miller quite a bit.

I follow the leader of the entire Iowa fanbase on Twitter, you have 1100 posts on an ISU website.

1) Well done:wink:

2) Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to criticize you for doing so. Just honestly don't know why people would. I haven't listened to him or been on his website in years. We both apparently like to make fun of him. So... friends?

1. The "discussions" I'm hearing (and seeing on this board) is that Iowa fans still have to justify their ranking. I can only speak of what I've heard from fans I know, and the many messages I've seen. Do you have any idea how many hawk fans have posted the video of Kevin Blackstone patting Iowa on the back. Every chance they get, they are patting themselves on the back, because no one else is doing it.

2. Sure, 6 weeks from now, if Iowa runs the table and beats either said team, they will get some of the respect they deserve. Trouble is, before 6 weeks from now, teams like Stanford, Florida, and others will have chances weekly to play top 25 opponents and jump iowa. And not just 1 chance, like Iowa, but they will have multiple chances.

Should have been: "Dear Iowa - America doesn't care. At all. About anything in your state."

Just curious. From you iowa fans reading this. Would you rather make the CFB playoffs and lose by 17 in the first round or go to the Rose Bowl and win by 3?

1) Iowa fans are excited and are posting something someone said positive about them? No way! What kind of a fan base does that? Did you ask them if they are happy about the season right now? Please tell me how many people tell you no.

2) So you were wrong, they do in fact have a chance to impress you. That's all you needed to write my man.

Why was I wrong? I never once said if they ran the entire table they wouldn't be deserving. But let's get by Indiana first before you book your ticket to the OSU game.

Your exact quote:

Followed by me asking:

You respond:

Not sure what is hard about this.

*EDIT* Should also point out the last part of your post is very true, although ISU fans in a few of these threads don't allow Iowa fans to feel cautious about upcoming games, especially Indiana. Feel free to look back at the last few pages in the Playoff Selection thread.

Eh... probably go with playoff loss in that case. What about you?

I'm not sure, I think it is close but I would agree that making the playoff is a win in itself. I think both of your answers make sense. Even though the Rose is on an equal plane with the Peach now in the New Year's Six, it's still better in most fans' eyes and probably even moreso for a B1G or Pac-12 fan.

Your are not sure what's hard to follow? Let me spell it out for you. We know for a fact who Stanford and Florida have left on their schedules, and they each have games against top 25 teams. iowa doesn't.

You are adding in a hypothetical of Iowa making it to the big 10 championship, undefeated at that point, and playing either OSU or MSU. Who knows if Iowa will make it and who they will play. Yes, something very crazy would have to happen, but we've seen iowa skid to poor finishes before. And all it takes is a season ending injury to Beathard for their season to be done. They can band aid any other injury except to him and still win out in the regular season.

Who knows if they will be undefeated. Iowa could lose 2 games and still play in the conference championship, and if so, doesn't matter if they win or not, nobody would be impressed enough to let a 2 loss iowa team into the CFB Playoff. OSU/MSU could lose 2-3 games still and play iowa depending on how things shake out. If iowa were to face a 2 loss team in the championship game, again, it may not matter if they win or not, because facing a 2 loss team might not sway the voters.

Only an undefeated iowa team, after the conference championship, where they play another team ranked in the top 10 at the time of the game, will convince me they are a top 10 team.
