Dear America - Iowa Doesn't Care What You Think

Obviously would be much, much tougher but both are absolutely winnable games for Iowa. OU would probably be -5. We'd probably be +4 hosting Okie St.
Seriously, I think OU would be -14 and even at home OSU (undefeated) would be favorite.

And yes, the post I responded to was about a projection that had Iowa in a crappy bowl game. So that's all about hoping Iowa doesn't get into a great bowl game, presumably, to feel better about the ISU season. Somehow.

Apparently you are unaware that the Peach Bowl is one of the new BCS-level bowls called the New Year's Six. The only "crappy" thing about it was the reference to it not adding to Iowa's tally of vaunted January bowl games such as the mighty TaxSlayer Bowl from a year ago. But based on your response maybe Iowa fans really do take this January thing too seriously...

So ISU's season has slumped to the point where the only thing to hope/pray for is that Iowa doesn't make a BCS-level bowl. Ouch.
No, many of us are still going to the games and supporting our team. Iowa can't even fill their stadium with T-shirt fans to watch an undefeated team.

Iowa's schedule looks "decent" on the surface. They have wins against Wisconsin, Pitt, and NW who all have decent records. But if you dive down another level, those good records don't really mean much (except for NW). If you take out the FCS teams, here are the number of wins Iowa's opponents have against teams with a winning record:

Iowa State - 0
Pitt - 0
North Texas - 0
Wisconsin - 0 (ILL is .500)
Illinois - 0
Northwestern - 2 (Stanford and Duke are good wins)

So if you combine all 7 of Iowa's FBS wins, those teams have beaten exactly TWO teams with winning records. Yikes.

It's no wonder ISU is called little brother. Wow.

We just beat Texas. TEXAS! and our fans are so insecure that they can't simply focus on Iowa State?

So many insecure and frankly mentally unstable people post in here its quite startling

Who is mentally unstable?

Most of us are able to focus on more than one thing at any given time. So we can be both happy about the Texas win and discuss other things.

And you using "we" to describe Iowa State is hilarious.

I didnt know who Peter Burns was until I saw him spouting off these kinds of facts this weekend on twitter and it clearly irked Iowa fans. Apparently he's an ESPN writer. Worth a minutes read the replies. In typical fashion, Hawk fan drops southern incest/f-bomb early in the replies.

This, very much this

I watched the ISU game with a few Hawkeye fans. It was hilarious how many times I heard how bad the Texas QBs were. And they were awful, but I've been pointing that out all season when I watch Hawkeye games with the same group, only to be told I'm just "hating." Wisconsin, Northwestern and Maryland all had atrocious QB play. There's a reason a terrible Illinois team was able to threaten Iowa. It's because they had an average QB that could complete passes downfield. They do face a good Indiana offense this week, but I suspect Indiana won't be able to stop Iowa's run game.

CSB. I know.

Yeah, I better spend 100% of my focus on that great Texas win or risk being called little brother by some dip s&%t with a false screen name. Good Lord.

Indiana gave up 55 points to Rutgers. RUTGERS! Also, that "high-flying Indiana offense" (which is an actual thing Gary Dolphin said on the radio this past weekend) has averaged 28.6 ppg against power 5 teams this year. Iowa shouldn't have a problem again this weekend.

How does a 7-0 team not fill their historic stadium on a gorgeous October day? Apparently no one cares

Indiana is bad, but they do have an above average QB. Stopping Iowa's run game and forcing Beathard to throw (he's obviously very injured and uncomfortable) combined with an accurate QB is the recipe to beat Iowa.
