Dear America - Iowa Doesn't Care What You Think

Because of all the delusion on both sides. Mostly ISU fans, probably because there are more of them, but delusion runs rampant, and it is laffy as I live in reality.

If the tables were turned, Iowa would have about 10% of its fans in an uproar as well.

Truly the delusion is a great thing. It makes it easier for guys like me to take people's money from them.

Much like college football actually. Winning pays very little. And not having money or brains isn't good either.

"Laffy is good."

100 percent of non-Hawkeye football fans would say Alabama beats Iowa in the eye test, too

This factors into the "resume" whether you prefer it does or not

Not gonna argue with you there. Alabama definitely has more talent than Iowa. In fact, most of these teams in the Top Ten do. But Iowa's roster fits their style of play pretty well. If Beathard can get heathy, Iowa can play with just about anyone in the country, IMO.

Agreed. Most Iowa fans that don't have a tigerhawk tattooed on their belly would say 'Bama beats us in the eye test. Am curious to know where we sit now in the NCAA's strength of record standings. Before yesterday's games we were #6, which is pretty impressive. That'll obviously go down the last month of the season. Hopefully ISU keeps winning, they had a very convincing win against the Patriots... er, Texas last night.

You said Iowa had a better resume and they don't. The one site you have referenced in this thread has Alabama #1 in the entire country

The thing is, Iowa fans have been defending their current strength of schedule by supplementing it with Sagarin (ie. "Iowa has wins over three 6 win teams, two of which were on the road. See- even Sagarin has Iowa's SoS above TCU, Ohio St, etc.")

You are basing your argument solely off the Sagarin rankings. If you can't see the difference, I can't help you.

When you say "Iowa has played a tougher schedule to date than many of the other undefeated teams" you are basing that solely off Sagarin unless you have other links to back it up that I haven't seen

I don't see a lot of point in comparing ISU and Iowa, ISU kind of pi$$ed away its chances early this year but seems like they found a bit of groove now. Iowa had an easy conference draw two years in a row, squandered it last year, and are crushing it this year.

My question is how Iowa fans think their undefeated season would look playing @OU next week and then hosting OK State the week after? These are the 3rd and 4th best teams on our schedule, not even the "tough" games. If the answer is a very good chance they get tagged with an L or two but in reality with this hole filled B10 schedule they're just enjoying the ride than I agree with them let the good times roll.

I kind of hope they run the table just to create some drama and raise questions about conferences where you don't play 5 of the teams every year...but I can totally get why fans of teams that are contender look at their conference schedule of nearly exclusively sub-40 teams and get ******.

Well it's not even true. Iowa's Sagarin SOS is only 47 and it's going to go down 5 weeks in a row now. There was ONE week where they looked to have a decent schedule because of Pitt being such a surprise and their easiest conference games being back loaded.

Even Nebraska is not going to help their SOS now. It'll be 5 straight weeks of games vs sub 50 teams to close out the year. My guess is their SOS drops down to the 70s then bounces back up to the 60s or high 50s because of B10CCG.

Obviously would be much, much tougher but both are absolutely winnable games for Iowa. OU would probably be -5. We'd probably be +4 hosting Okie St.

What % chance do you think get through TCU, Baylor, OU, OK State 4-0? I'd give Alabama about a 30% chance, Iowa far far less. Or swap those teams for OSU, MSU, Mich, PSU if that seems more rational/realistic.

That's what the national people and ESPN are grumpy/skpetical about...of course they should level the same argument against Clemson and FSU as I don't think playing in either division of the ACC is any tougher than B10W.

I guess my point is enjoy it, Iowa doesn't control the conference schedule, but realistic about it as well. If not then the 'haters' are the rational people and Iowa fans look like morons. I'd say there's all the reason in the world to run smack against ISU, but until Iowa is 13-0 because they beat a legit team the contenders are justified to laugh off Iowa chest thumping.

FWIW, Jerry Palm is projecting Iowa to the Peach Bowl on Dec. 31 to take on Tom Herman's Houston Cougars

All those wins and not even a January bowl game, smh

So ISU's season has slumped to the point where the only thing to hope/pray for is that Iowa doesn't make a BCS-level bowl. Ouch.

1. "Worst undefeated team in the history of college football" = massive hyperbole and utterly inaccurate
2. "It will be funny to see Iowa get their ***** handed to them when they finally have to play a team with a pulse in the Big Ten Championship" = if Iowa does make the Big Ten Championship game it will be a close game so you might as well accept that now so you don't get outraged later.
3. "...easiest schedule of any power 5 team" = statistically incorrect, keep trumpeting the ignorance though.

How mad does it make you that the entire country is in on this and Iowa is going to get punked in the CFP rankings because of it?

That's a New Year's Six bowl. Jimlad was implied...

The downside is that it's at 11:00am on a Thursday. A perfect fit for a B1G team though!

Pretty happy that Iowa is in the national playoff discussion and a top 10 program.

The Iowa fans I was around last night seemed miserable. We were watching the Stanford game and they just kept going on and on about the lack of respect in the rankings. Stanford was ranked too high...Michigan was ranked too high...team just got done winning to reach 8-0, but seemed so unhappy.

Where did anyone say this? Also, ISU just shut out Texas after playing okay against the No. 2 and No. 3 teams in the country in consecutive weeks. I wouldn't call that slumping. You're trying too hard.

You dominated a really, really bad Texas team and other than that have proven to be very good at losing to good teams. Sorry. And yes, the post I responded to was about a projection that had Iowa in a crappy bowl game. So that's all about hoping Iowa doesn't get into a great bowl game, presumably, to feel better about the ISU season. Somehow.

Certain peoples (plural) are attracted to each other. Energies of the universe. So you shouldn't really be surprised by this should you?

ISU did to Texas what Iowa has been doing for about six weeks in a row now. Beat a crappy team that can't throw the ball by punching them in the mouth till they quit.
