Dear America - Iowa Doesn't Care What You Think

On a Cyclone fan site? WTF. It's craziness.

I was wondering what percentage of all threads on cyfan gave mention of u of Iowa in them. Not rivalry board but all boards.

I would guess it is close to 50% if not higher. I am sure someone could check but I doubt they would give an honest answer.

I'm equally as shocked that a hok fan thinks this. Shocked.

It's also pretty obvious the recent ISU wins over Iowa have taken their toll on the Iowa fanbase. I've never seen Iowa fans so obsessed with ISU as I have the last 4 or 5 weeks. Even more surprising considering Iowa is 7-0. Not exactly big brother behavior.

Who doesn't love a train wreck?

Solid rebuttal. You're on a roll.

Well, since you seem to have a boner for Duke, my rebuttal is the fact that Duke has 3 bowl wins in their history. ISU has 2. Duke has 11 bowl appearances, ISU 9. I would say, historically speaking, those 2 programs are pretty close, relatively speaking. Neither team would be viewed by anybody as a historical powerhouse. Yes, Duke has a good team this year, but the fact remains that I have no doubt, ISU would compete in a game with Duke this year and most likely every other single year each has had a program. ISU took Toledo (and ****** the game down their leg) to OT at Toledo. Toledo is ranked 20th, Duke 22nd. So, it's fair to think that even the lowly Cyclones could give Duke a game this year, even though the all mighty Blue Devils are 6-1 this year. So, if ISU could compete with Duke, there is no reason they can't compete with NW. Never said they would win, but it would be a close game. Duke will never get the respect of the FSU's or Miami's historically speaking. ISU will never get the respect of the Texas's and Oklahoma's and Iowa will never get the respect of the Buckeyes, Wolverines or Huskers. Just the way life is.

Kind of like you guys starting the "Pray for _____" threads ;)

Ill be completely honest- Youre right, losing to ISU has taken its toll. Im not kidding, either. Last year, for me, was the tipping point. I dont think its made me more obsessed or anything, but its making me take a much closer look at the program. Granted, a lot of that comes from ISU fans talking crap, which is to completely be expected. Just, as a die hard hawk fan, it wears on me! haha

That's nothing new for Iowa State football. Why all the vitriol now? Seems obvious it's because ISU fans have had the gall to actually stand up to the loudmouths that cheer for one of the few teams they've beaten with some regularity.

That's the beauty of a rivalry. But all I've heard for a decade or more is how Iowa simply doesn't care about Iowa State, that Iowa is subsidizing our football program and keeping our university doors open.

I seriously don't understand the Hawks that spend hours here. Why? After their big win against Wisconsin, several were running to CF.

One of the Twilight versions said he comes here to make people mad. Is that worth hours of your life?

Agreed. Some hawk fan posted 2/3rds of the posts were Cyclone fans. Shouldn't 100% of the posts be from Cyclone fans if hawk fans really didn't care what America thought?

There is no vitriol. You want to claim rivalry but you don't want to hear anything negative about isu. Doesn't that sound silly?

You have threads that go on for hundreds of posts about Iowa. You can't understand why people come here to talk about a rivalry.

The perceived lack of respect and need to vocalize it here is quite sad. Have fun and try to come up with new comments as opposed to the small bag everyone here digs into.

John miller speaks for Iowa as much as randy Peterson does isu.

That might be confusing for you but ask the kid next to you what that means.

1) And Minnesota has more national championships than Nebraska, LSU, Florida, Texas..... Not sure why you decided to compare all time bowl wins/appearances between the two schools, especially when I went out of my way to say "recently".

2) And I'm sure some Washington State fans believe they can win against Stanford this weekend, doesn't change the fact that:
a) Vegas doesn't believe so
B) It would be an upset,
c) The programs are currently comparable.

3) Not sure either of us know where this came from or where you were trying to go with it, but we agree none the less.

My suggestion is to take a step back and rethink your thoughts here. Come back with a clear head and try again.

It's surprising to you that Iowa fans enjoy talking about... Iowa?

Funny considering the thread
Yep a 20+ page thread on an article written by john miller.
No grasping at straws here at all.

John miller is the basis of a cyfan thread and it brings out the usual replies. Shocker.

Perhaps the hook should be cut and not pulled out.
