I think people are making too big of a deal about rankings considering there is so much football left to be played. For me, I'm just enjoying the ride for as long as it lasts. I don't think they'll go undefeated so I don't really care about arguing schedule strength.
And if we beat the # 2 or # 3 rated team, you'd be saying they're overrated to begin with-I know the drill here. This is the right attitude.
You'll have plenty of time to tell ISU fans how bad their football team is, even though 99% know it already. And nationally Iowa is getting plenty of respect, just don't expect everyone to bow down to the greatness of a team who's best win is beating #23 at home.
And if we beat the # 2 or # 3 rated team, you'd be saying they're overrated to begin with-I know the drill here.
why would I say that? I'm not saying Pitt is overrated.

ISU would currently be 4-3 with Iowa's schedule and would finish either 6-6 or 7-5.
Iowa would currently be 4-3 as well with losses to Baylor and TCU a lock and a loss to either Toledo or Texas Tech. They would finish the season with at least 2 more losses, Oklahoma most likely and at least one other (Okie St, at KState, at WVU is at least 1 loss). They finish at best 7-5, and possibly 6-6 as well.
Iowa fans, instead of ******** and moaning about no respect, realize that respect is earned and deal with it. Is Iowa a better team than ISU, yes. But not head and shoulders better.

Illinois state, north Texas, and...?
Agree, and from what I saw they are only 2 minutes better.
You guys need to change the subject and start discussing the Mangenius fiasco.
Iowa's schedule by Sagarin ranking of opponent:
Home:
33
61
67
73
77
102
180
Away:
19
40
46
72
80
Iowa State is #72. So I'll remove it from the list for ISU and count it as an L since they already lost to Iowa.
From the remaining 11 games, ISU would go either 1-3 or 0-4 with that road stretch and 4-3 or 5-2 at home. There would be a chance at going 6-1 at home as #61 @ #72 would be a close game. (#61 is Illinois)
So I guess if things went ISU's way they could go 6-6 with Iowa's schedule according to Sagarin or even 7-5 if they caught a break. It is striking to me that 8 of the teams on Iowa's schedule are of comparable quality to ISU according to Sagarin though. Because we (or I, at least) acknowledge that ISU is a bad football team this year.
Illinois state, north Texas, and...?
So if you're going to use sagarin rating to determine outcomes, can we go ahead and assume Iowa should have beaten isu by much more?
Would have hosted Pitt, which is a chance. They beat Illinois and with the current state of NW football (they barely beat Duke and Ball State, programs that would be comparable to ISU), I see no reason they can't win that game. So 2 out of those 3 games isn't far fetched.
