Dear America - Iowa Doesn't Care What You Think

Another solid rebuttal. Don't mention either 2 of the points being discussed (current SOS and your failure point what was "funny" or as you implied, ironic, about the article) but instead focus on what isn't being debated by anyone, which is that Iowa's SOS will fall with the remaining games of the schedule. Seriously, what is it with the internet and people being unable to type the phrase "I was wrong, nevermind".

Let me try to spell this out clearly enough for an Iowa fan to understand.

1. I said that Michigan had played "real opponents" so far, unlike Iowa, given the fact that Michigan has played the #4 and #7 team in the country and Iowa only played the #25 team at home.

2. I was told that their SOS' are basically equal (which wasn't a response to what I said anyway) using Sagarin. Michigan's is 17% better anyway but that's beside the point because...

3. Since you used Sagarin, I responded to get the discussion back on track re: Sagarin rankings for all of Iowa's opponents and how they are New Coke-quality, also laughing at Jon Miller's attempt to get more media respect for Iowa's schedule to date since their remaining schedule looks like something Gilbert High School would play in October.

4. You obfuscate and ignore the entire point of the thread by claiming I never responded to your point that didn't respond to my point in the first place - Michigan has been tested, twice, to a degree Iowa has not

Hopefully the numbered list helps.

I don't think Iowa is one of the best 4 teams in the country.

This we wholeheartedly agree on. We've found common ground!

Iowa's 7-0 and ranked #12 in the nation. So apparently the nation is paying attention. I'll take it.

Basketball season will be here soon.

Shocked to see you once again side stepped what what actually being debated. Stating Iowa hasn't played anybody (forget the two road wins against ranked teams) while Michigan has, then being shown the two schools have a near identical Sagrain SOS rating was your first sidestep. You then tried to morph the topic into some sort of "whole schedule will suck, so there" argument when you found out you were wrong. Even more pathetic was trying to state Miller was trying to pimp the remaining schedule as some sort of gauntlet when he even stated in the article it was anything but. You then tried to switch your reason for bringing up the article to include Iowa's schedule to date when you were called out for clearly not even bothering to read the article. I will even give you a run down of the conversation so you can keep along. I could number the sentences as that appears to help you.

1. (me) although nobody has argued said SOS will take a dive from here on out and if anything, will readily admit it.

2. (you) The bolded is also pretty funny considering the topic we are posting in and the Jon Miller manifesto linked in the OP

3. (me) Lastly, and not sure if this is even worth asking you, but could you please give me an idea how the bolded is somehow funny in lieu of the Miller post/OP? Did you even read it? Hell, I'll be nice and help you by posting a direct quote from the article. You might want to pay special attention to the first sentence.

"Look, we get that Iowa’s schedule the rest of the way is ‘manageable’, or ‘fortuitous’, or ‘soft’. The thing is, Iowa didn’t have one ounce of input on the next five teams on its schedule. The Big Ten computers spit that out. It came up with Maryland and Indiana as Iowa’s Eastern Division crossovers. Iowa is not to blame for Minnesota’s return to being Minnesota. Iowa is not to blame for Purdue continuing to flat out stink."

They are?

Yup, check it out for yourself. Look for the numbers 19 and 20. Unless we decided to throw in some sort of weird qualifier where a team can't state they beat the xth ranked team when the game was played. In which case I hope you let every media outlet and fanbase in the country know this immediately. I will also then just point to the home win against the current #25 Pitt.

If you think hawk fans are defensive now, wait another month when their SOS plummets. Even if you don't agree that their schedule gets Charmin soft, you have to admit that the media will be hammering these numbers to death in an effort to slide a more media friendly second SEC team, a 1 loss Florida St or even a 1 loss b1G team in the playoff ahead of them.

No defensiveness here. I would love to be in a position where the national punditry was talking down the 12-0 Hawkeyes. In that scenario, Iowa either takes down OSU or Michigan State, which likely gives it enough cache to get into the playoffs, or loses the game and gets a consolation prize of the Rose Bowl.

I still think the odds of Iowa making it past Lincoln 12-0 aren't all that good, even with the remaining schedule. Stuff happens. But it's been great to follow so far.

The real question is if the Hawks do go undefeated and get shut down out of the playoffs due to weak SOS, will they make rings?

Lots of huge butt hurt from Clones because they don't have a football team to get excited about-good stuff!

I think they are leaning more towards a commemorative coin. Those always seem to be great ideas.

Iowa has beaten the #25 team. USC was preseason #1 in 2012 and finished the season unranked. It would have been moronic for anyone to claim a win over the #1 team in the country at the end of that season by virtue of beating USC.

I really want this subject line changed every time I read it I think of some Hillbilly TavernHok - 'Deer Merica: Iwa comin for yall.......'
