Dear America - Iowa Doesn't Care What You Think

Iowa could move the ball against Michigan, we're not even healthy and we hung 40 on a top 10 defense. They wouldn't be able to move the ball much against Iowa though, we know their QB sucks and their ground game isn't impressive. To me they're very overrated 'the Harbaugh factor' and will lose a few more the rest of the way.

Michigan's QB would torch Iowa's leaky secondary

Kirk Herstreit gave props to the author for this article and admitted he way underestimated Iowa. Puke.

And we'd be 5-2 with Iowa's schedule? No way. I'd say 3-4 at best, with wins against Illinois State, North Texas and maybe Illinois.

As soon as they play a good team we will see if they are for real. Ohh wait, crap, no they don't play anyone.

Ok, now Im starting to realize that we are in a damned if we do, damned if we dont situation. You know what happens to teams ranked in the 18-25 rankings following a loss? They drop out. So, just to clarify this, Wisconsin and Northwestern were great before they played Iowa, but after they lost, they are terrible? I can see what you are saying, but at the same time, you are literally punishing Iowa for beating them. I know they werent in the top 10 when Iowa played, but Iowa cant help that.

Well yea. That isn't Iowa's fault, but if they played teams that were in the Top 15, we would have a better sense of how good they actually are. I don't think anyone thought Wisconsin was great before they played Iowa. They were ranked preseason but haven't looked like a Top 25 team. Northwestern just got smoked by Michigan 38-0 the week before getting killed by Iowa.

That's the whole point. Iowa isn't playing teams that are "great." They're playing teams that are average. It would be silly if Iowa got credit for beating the No. 19 team when, later in the season, it's obvious they weren't the 19th-best team in the country. This will all get sorted out at the end of the season, but it's not the analysis that isn't fair to Iowa. It's the reality that they're playing an inferior schedule to the rest of the top teams.

The SOS numbers might give them an argument now, but it's obvious to everyone but Iowa fans that those numbers aren't going to hold up in the next five weeks.

I'm guessing this is John Miller's agenda. Looking at the remaining schedule, which looks like something Art Briles would sign off on for a non-con slate, he knows Iowa will be gaining zero additional respect even if they go 12-0. So all he can do is make the argument that they should already have more respect based on the first 7 games. THat's why the article came now instead of later. This point of the season is the high point of Iowa's SOS.

nothing wrong with iowa's schedule to this point. however the back end is looking very light with nebraska and minnesota sucking.

9 pages? a lot of iowa state fans read this article apparently.

Agree mostly. The only thing is the schedule so far. I dont think it has been weak compared to anyone else, at all. I went and looked at the schedules of other top 25 teams, and outside of a few, most have been very, very similar to Iowas. A couple good teams, a couple mediocres, and some cupcakes. However, going forward, its a weak as hell. As iowa fans, though, we know all too well that they could lay an egg against someone we shouldnt. Honestly, Indiana worries me the most out of anyone. They suck, dont get me wrong, but that O, when its clicking, is for real. Just ask OSU

also, no actual iowa fan or national writer truly thinks they will be in the playoff. they are just embracing the fact that hope is still alive.

Iowa fans may not care according to Jon but I guess we can say ISU fans do?

Nah, we just have a horde of Iowa fans coming here trying to argue anything ISU fans have to say about the subject. That usually extends the life of threads and bloats the pages numbers. Check out the Iowa Basketball Recruiting thread sometime.
