Not going to that cesspool site but assuming you wouldn't need to address America if you really didn't care. Boo hoo, no one is paying attention to Iowa.

There is a forum for hawk trolls. It's called In State Rivals. Mods, please direct all threads relating to the Iowa Hawkeyes or the Big Ten Conference to ISR.

TIA

Texas Tech is mediocre, K-State is mediocre, West Virginia is mediocre, Texas is mediocre, Oklahoma St may be too. We play plenty of mediocre teams.

Top 40 isn't mediocre, and all 5 of them are Top 40 (or close to it) at this point.

Tech is 5-2 with losses to TCU (barely) and Baylor. Texas just beat Oklahoma. WVU and KSU may be mediocre, but they have only played ranked teams in conference so far, it's hard to tell. Texas is the only one of those 5 to lose a non-conference game, and none of them have lost to an unranked team.

Compare those 5 you listed to Iowa's next 5 opponents: Maryland, Indiana, Purdue, Minnesota, Nebraska.

Now those are mediocre teams.

Hawk fans are the most ignorant on the planet. The fact that they have the weakest Power 5 schedule in the nation means nothing to them.

They will go undefeated in the regular season. My hope would be for them to face Baylor or TCU or LSU, in which they would get smoked 66-14 or something thereabouts.

But with typical Hawkeye luck, they'll draw someone like Boise St. or BYU.

why does any of this matter?

All I got from that is that Iowa has officially given up any rights to complain about any Iowa State schedule.

Kirk Herstreit gave props to the author for this article and admitted he way underestimated Iowa. Puke.

And we'd be 5-2 with Iowa's schedule? No way. I'd say 3-4 at best, with wins against Illinois State, North Texas and maybe Illinois.

And maybe Iowa State. Maybe.

What's the best win any of those five B12 teams have?

why does any of this matter?

IMO, it affects rational observers (of which there are a few left here) from being able to accurately assess the quality of this team. The irrational observers just take the default position that we are horrible because they don't know how else to handle it.

We are somewhere between the #50 and #100 best team in the country, but it's impossible to accurately place us on that scale because we don't play any other teams in that range. Kansas and UNI are well below #100, and everyone else is likely top 50.

Texas beat OU.

And despite beating a top five team on a neutral site is still not even a top 50 team according to Sagarin rankings. Sure sounds like a mediocre team to me. And outside of that game, the best win of that group is what? Tech over a 2-4 Arkansas team?

K-State's best win is a squeaker against Louisiana Tech at home, they just lost by 55 points at home to a team Texas was able to beat. That's the resume of a mediocre at best team.

Their schedule is a joke. I positive Iowa State would be 5-2 if we had their schedule

Not sure what you've seen to warrant that confidence. Their schedule is overall pretty weak, but so far has not been that bad. Sagarin has us about 2-5 with their schedule so far. At least touchdown dogs to Iowa, Wisconsin, Pitt, Northwestern and 5 points to Illinois. Close win over Illinois State and easy win over North Texas.

We would certainly be more competitive in the B10, but tough to be so confident we'd magically be a good team. We have two wins. Kansas may be the worst P5 team in the country and UNI is an FCS team.

Probably.

They keep saying this, but its not like baylor hasnt constantly gotten **** on by the media for their SOS.

Iowa played two power five conference teams OOC, Baylor hasn't played a power five conference team OOC since 2009. Also, no one takes Iowa seriously as a playoff contender. Baylor is a very legit playoff contender and has a been an elite team for a while but has done nothing to improve their schedule. Baylor still doesn't have a big time OOC win during this run they've been on for the last several years, I'm certain that holds them back in the eyes of some voters.

Iowa at least has some control over their non-conference schedule.

Michigan State scheduled Oregon, and at the time they would have scheduled them, they were a better team. Michigan scheduled Utah. Minnesota scheduled TCU. Nebraska scheduled BYU and Miami.

Granted Iowa probably has to play Iowa State; however, they could have found someone better than Illinois State, North Texas, and Pitt.

Except that's not a fact. To date we have the 35th ranked SOS - higher than TCU, Baylor, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Michigan State, Florida St. or Clemson etc.
