I made some southern style fried chicken with red beans and rice for dinner tonight.

#pantsneedstolearntocook

You know what...this is RT core stuff right here. I was all bacon and pork and beef and chicken eatin'..and loving it. And then pants was all JoePescitarian in here, and I was all "LOL, loser", then I saw him post and was like "oh, maybe he's not a loser". Then GT comes in and talks about cooking, and pretty soon, I'm up in Hy-five like "can a fuggin guy get some pigeon peas in this b****? I need some pigeon peas right hurr" I ate shrimps for dinner tonight, and they weren't fried. That don't happen without RT threads.

<semi-intoxicated "I love you man"s coming now>

To tell you the truth, I never was much of a cook growing up. My mom is an amazing cook, but does not like anyone in her kitchen. Once I moved out and started living on my own, I started learning to cook as much as I could. My wife shared her knowledge and I got some tips from my mom as well. Once I got started, I could not stop. I do enjoy cooking, just don't have much time to do it during the week.

Thanks GTO. Now I have that song stuck in my head.

Fun fact, at Hawaii games they play the Israel Kamakawiwo'ole version of that song between the third and fourth quarter. The PA guy sings along, too. With the microphone still on.

only post on reddit during the season and had a post that got 55 likes. It takes me like 60 posts to get that here.

I kind of learned late as well. My mom would make us help in the kitchen, but didn't do a whole lot of teaching...for instance, my job was usually to make the gravy. Simple stuff. College for me was totino's party pizzas and those meal maker kits (like frozen versions of hamburger helper). But being in college for 6.5 years (4.5 years actually in classes, the rest was working), I got pretty much sick of everything, so I started dabbling at the end. 9 months after graduating, I got laid off (plant closed), so cooking was the only hobby I could afford. If I spent all day baking a loaf of bread, I wasted a day, and ate cheaply. Didn't really look back from there. Was at the 'follow a recipe very well' stage for several years, now I can create things on my own.

I have never wanted to be anywhere but work more than today. :twitcy:

Heh...hopefully nothing too bad. The weirdest is going thru a slow layoff where they come and walk people out one by one. Had one of those a few months before the plant closed at my first job out of college. You sit there trying to look busy, but not wanting to start something you won't finish. You really don't want to be there, but you're glad you're still there (so far).

Mine is just more a matter of apathy. I've have been waiting 2 and a half months for my new title and salary when I was told 1 to 2 weeks. Between that, the constant department reprimands killing office morale, and my heart and head being back in Iowa, I'm just a zombie going though the motions. I took this role thinking it would be ground floor building something special, but now I have a much better understanding of why this department is still in its infancy 10 years later.

Not sure it works with bagpipes though.
Probably not. We only have 9 notes we can play, so our options are sort of limited.

and 00: I just hope it'll get better once the Rhodes situation is resolved one way or the other. I feel like that's made a lot of people very bitter and the football threads almost unreadable.

I just made my contribution to the CPR Song thread. Couldn't resist.

Ha, and people who are avoiding it just because it's a Boxster thread are missing out cause your Country Roads (Rhoads) is pretty damn cool.

:yes:

I don't think the football meltdown is bad at all. I think the fans are out of gas. I running pretty close to empty.

Although if we had lost to UNI I still think they could have mustered up an epic and legendary meltdown.
