Since when is that a pre-requisite on a message board? I'd venture to guess that only about half of all posts actually add original information/opinions to a thread, probably less. Once you wade through the "me too" and "I agree" posts, there's very little substance left. And to head off the smart-alecks who will inevitably say it, this post probably counts in the NVA category. :wink:

I only disagree with one point - I'm all in favor of discussing/speculating on this issue - however - I'd hope we could do it without completely trashing people within the program, those that have left and only creating more rumors/questions than actually coming up with answers. Especially when this stuff is started/fueled by these "insides".
Just wanted to see if you actually have any info to add to the thread about what you see with the connection between the coaches (head & asst) and players. And you made that very clear that you have none, just too busy playing devils advocate. Now I have a life so better get back to it. Sorry to get anyone cheesed off about an insight I wanted to share.

I have no problem with you sharing the insight, and I don't think anybody else does either. The problem with it in my opinion at this point is everything is so garbaled. You obviously like Mac a lot and have no problem piledriving Wesley. Others close to the situation have said very dissimilar things.
In the end it does really matter to me why he left or who is at fault. I only care about the fact that his leaving impacts the team and the future of the program.

A few thoughts after perusing this thread:
1) The original poster threw two people, not one, under the bus...WM and WJ.
2) Those of you that keep intimating that WJ is an "inner city" kid need to get out of Iowa once in a while. Just because someone is black it does not make them an "inner city" kid. In fact, WJ is from a town of about 25,000 people that is around 50 miles south of the Dallas metro area. WJ is not from the "inner city".
3) WM played "thug ball"? Actually, I saw a bunch of teams make decent runs in the NCAA Tourney with this approach...Memphis for one. Just because you let guys use their god given abilities does not make your approach undisciplined. By the way, I much prefer a fast paced tempo to the vaunted McDermott "system" (which appears to be walking the ball up court, passing it around the three point arch and then chucking a desperation three as the shot clock expires). If you were insinuating that WM's teams were thugs off the court...please give some examples.
4) If cyclonessince84 was really associated with the team, I am extremely worried about the program. The absolute total disdain he shows in his writing for some of our best players over the past few years is quite disturbing. In most organizations (like our BB team), this sort of attitude permeates the entire organization and usually emanates from the top (the head coach in this case). His posts further increase my concerns about our program. I am happy that he is no longer affiliated but I would guess that others with his same attitude are still aboard...this is a real problem.

Dude, I think he was making light of the fact that you have no insider information and don't know what is going on inside the program, but you continue to spout opinions on this message board like a Know-It-All.
I thnk the new kid is pretty damn smart. It only took him about 8 posts to realize what you are about....

2) I will assume most people had no idea where he was from. I live in a town of 100K and I hardly call that a city either.
3) I don't want to assume what the original poster said on the "thug ball" topic, but I will anyway because I can. I think he was getting at the team not playing up to their ability as a team, as I mentioned before, similar to the Knicks. Uptempo, creating your own stuff is great. Memphis may not have been running set plays a lot (I have no clue) but they were able to play up to their ability as a team, which would not be considered it thug ball.

If that's questioning some errant poster claiming to be an insider - while trashing a player and former coach - that would be me. Anyone in their right mind would question these claims.

I don't like to get into the old coach talk, but you've got to be kidding me. If we would have changed more on defense, then Morgan's last year wouldn't have been one of the most disappointing basketball season's of my life. We did not have the personnel down low to run that zone defense, yet we never stopped running it. Do you remember how many uncontested layups we gave up that year? Maric scored like 38 in Hilton and missed about two shots.
You are right. Two years we were worried someone might steal our coach because he was doint too well.
I didn't say the changes worked. I said we made changes. There were different presses, different zones, match up zones (there was no man to man and that did cost us games) I just said there was some method to the madness. Again not saying that it worked the last season.

Some guys keep calling Morgan's last year dissappointing, however they forget we had all first year bigs and one of them was sick and injured most of the year. How many Big 12 teams have much success with no experienced big men? We still managed a winning record and a big 4 title with wins over good Iowa, UNI and Drake teams. We likely would have been in the NIT had JP lobbied for a home game as I would expect every AD to do. Now had Morgan not been fired I fully expected that team to return to the NCAA with both experienced guards and big men coming back.
