Just had a couple beers with a guy that gave me 7 reasons why Iowa has an outside shot at an appearance in the BIG championship game... Gosh I love having them as "rivals".

Reason #1, they LITERALLY have the easiest schedule of any team in a P5 conference. All they have to do is outscore their patsies by 1 point per game and they are in.

I could see it...1 lucky break against Wisconsin or Nebraska and they would wind up with 1 loss in their conference. Makes me pretty sick to my stomach.

I wouldn't be too shocked if they did...reason being, they only play two "tough" teams in Wisconsin and Nebraska.

Wisconsin would have to have a serious meltdown, however. They don't face a ranked opponent this year in their conference.

Honestly, considering the teams in the West, I wouldn't even call it an outside shot.

Yes, tOSU won the NC last year, good for them, one team doesn't make a league though, there is a lot of bad football being played on the west side of that league.

Yeah, it could happen.

I think that it is not easy for us to really comprehend how bad that conference is. And how bad Iowa's schedule is.

Yes the West is weak. But MSU beat Big 12 co-champ Baylor. Wisconsin beat Auburn. OSU won the national title. When the dust settled the B1G was arguably the better football conference than the Big 12 last season.

Yep. Even if they lose both of those they still have a shot with Nebraska and Wisconsin playing a legitimate P5 schedule.

They also should have only lost two games last year, with those two games being the last two games and both at home so really they shouldn't have been penciled as losses either.

Instead the lost 5 games. They will again underachieve.

No. Maybe OSU, Wisc, and MSN were better. But league wide? Puke.

I could see a Iowa making it to the championship game but that's about it. Their SOS is so weak they could go 12-1 and not even in the conversation for the playoff.

Maybe at the top. Maybe.

But the bottom of that league? Really, really bad. 2014 Iowa State level bad.

It wasn't a fluke that we beat Iowa last year.

Aside from TCU and Baylor the Big 12 was even more blah. KSU finished at #18 but Okie was the only other school that even got a vote.

If the conversation is Iowa and how weak our schedule is, that's obvious. If you're trying to say the B1G is puke compared to the Big 12 there's nothing but bias and blind hate to back that up. Final rankings last year prove it. Preseason rankings for this year prove it.

Preseason rankings for this year don't mean jack.

CR Gazette and others talking about a 5-0 start for Iowa.....

Despite Iowa'a not-so-glorious 17-13 triumph last season over Ball St in the opener, Hawk pundits are still looking past Illinois State

LOL .. The game is a Pick'em' in 'Vegas

in all fairness, there's plenty of looking past UNI and at 4-0 start predictions on this board. And we got curb stomped by our FCS opener.

Just because OSU won the title doesn't mean the conference is great you dosh bag.

B1G - 1, 5, 17, 28, 32, 39, 45, 56, 64, 72, 78, 84, 86, 87

Big 12 - 2, 3, 18, 31, 40, 41, 42, 75, 100, 114

Even with four more teams, how is the bottom of the B1G that much worse than the bottom of the Big 12? 30% of Big 12 teams are ranked 75th or lower. 29% of the B1G teams are ranked 75th or lower.
